Description

Operate one or several types of power construction equipment, such as motor graders, bulldozers, scrapers, compressors, pumps, derricks, shovels, tractors, or front-end loaders to excavate, move, and grade earth, erect structures, or pour concrete or other hard surface pavement. Must perform daily routine maintenance of equipment.

 
Position Requirements

1.Adjust hand wheels and depress pedals to control attachments, such asblades, buckets, scrapers, or swing booms.

2.Start engines, move throttles, switches, or levers, or depress pedals tooperate machines, such as bulldozers, trench excavators, road graders, orbackhoes.

3.Locate underground services, such as pipes or wires, prior to beginningwork.

4.Monitor operations to ensure that health and safety standards are met

5.Align machines, cutter heads, or depth gauge makers with reference stakesand guidelines or ground or position equipment, following hand signals ofother workers.

6.Load and move dirt, rocks, equipment, or other materials, using trucks,crawler tractors, power cranes, shovels, graders, or related equipment.

7.Climb onto and off from all heavy equipment including but not limited toLoader, Backhoe, Excavator, Bobcat, Dozer, etc.

8.Pushing, pulling, bending, lifting, twisting, carrying while in the field onuneven, soft or hard terrain for the purpose of Heavy equipment operationsand preventative maintenance.

9.May require crawling for the purpose of entering and or exiting larger HeavyEquipment machines.

10. Drive and maneuver equipment equipped with blades in successive
passes over working areas to remove topsoil, vegetation, or rocks or to distribute and
level earth or terrain.
11. Coordinate machine actions with other activities, positioning or moving loads in
response to hand or audio signals from crew members.
12. Operate tractors or bulldozers to perform such tasks as clearing land, mixing
sludge, trimming backfills, or building roadways or parking lots.
13. Maintain equipment, making emergency adjustments.
14. Check fuel supplies at sites to ensure adequate availability.
15. Connect hydraulic hoses, belts, mechanical linkages, or power takeoff shafts to
tractors.
16. Operate loaders to pull out stumps, rip asphalt or concrete, rough-grade
properties, back fill and compact to specified results, and perform general clean up.
17. Select and fasten bulldozer blades or other attachments to tractors, using hitches.
18. Learn and follow safety regulations.
19. Take actions to avoid potential hazards or obstructions, such as utility lines, other
equipment, other workers, or falling objects.
20. Craning of material and equipment to excavation.
21. Must know weights and limits of machines and attachment devices, such as
chains/ slings/ and cables.
22. Excavate safe trenches per osha standards.
23. Dig within trench boxes, shoring, MH boxes and all other trench safety devices.
24. Be able to classify soil types (A, B, &C)
25. Be able to work in tight areas without damage to existing facilities.
26. Determine bucket sizes for the correct application.
