Description

NOTE:  This position is remote but training will be provided on-site at our Greenwood location.  There will also be requirements to report to the office for various meetings through the year.  This will be minimal.  

GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for transcription of patient medical information and other assigned typing duties using transcribing and word processing equipment.

  1. Transcribes dictation including H&P's, referral letters, office notes, consult notes, radiology/bone densitometry reports, cardiac treadmill reports, and sigmoidoscopy reports.
  2. Transcribes reports using correct grammar and punctuation.
  3. Assures correct spelling and usage of medical terms, utilizing reference materials effectively.
  4. Recognizes, interprets, and evaluates inconsistencies, discrepancies, and inaccuracies in medical dictation; and appropriately revises and clarifies them without altering the meaning of the dictation or changing the dictator's style.
  5. Transcribes reports in the format set by the practice or the individual dictator
  6. Assures chronological typing order and/or urgency. Transcribes stat dictations upon request.
  7. Types meeting minutes, manuscripts, speeches, letters, and other correspondence for medical staff upon request.
  8. Maintains an acceptable level of productivity as set by the department
  9. Maintains confidentiality of material, discussing only with involved medical personnel for purposes of clarifications.
  10. Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
  2. Minimum of two years of medical transcription experience required.
  3. Word processing experience required.

PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Minimum typing speed of 60 wpm with accuracy.
  2. Proficient use of the English language, grammar, and punctuation.
  3. Ability to work productively in an independent manner.
