What You Will Be Doing
The public relations manager’s primary responsibility is to promote Boundless's mission and people across all current and future Boundless markets and to all current and future Boundless stakeholders, including prospective service clients, prospective business partners, prospective philanthropic donors, and the general public.

The public relations manager will play a leading role in content creation, internal and external communication plans, media placement, and social media content and strategies. The manager will cultivate media relationships and actively work to place stories promoting the Boundless brand. The manager will also create engaging original content that adheres to best practices in messaging and brand management. The public relations manager will work collaboratively as a member of the advancement and communications team in conjunction with the communications and marketing manager.

Essential Functions

  • Manages the organization's public relations (PR) function and oversees all activities.
  • Develops and implements publicity strategies for the company's services, including a crisis management strategy.
  • Creates and manages a PR plan, including budgets, timelines, etc., in conjunction with department leadership.
  • Works with leaders throughout the organization related to PR matters.
  • Builds media relations; Leverages existing media relationships; Implement media relations programs.
  • Writes engaging original content for Boundless communications, including articles, biographies, press kits, press releases, scripts, and other content as needed.
  • Secures speaking slots, bylined articles, and other mediums for Boundless leadership.
  • Analyzes all media coverage of the organization and drafts appropriate responses. Monitors and maintains a positive brand image for Boundless across review websites like Google, Glassdoor, Yelp, etc.
  • Identifies opportunities for consistent institutional messaging.

Salary: $50-$55,000 Annually

Work Location: This position works primarily remotely, with access to office space on the Worthington Campus as needed.

Position Requirements

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, or related field.
  • Experience in writing, editing, publicity, media relations, marketing, publication production, disseminating news releases; desktop publishing experience, and skills.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience with electronic communication, computers, fundraising, WordPress, and marketing; knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite; experience with web authoring; excellent interpersonal and written communication skills and commitment to quality.
  • Experience working in the field of developmental disabilities.
  • 3-5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations.
