Position summary: The Operator Helper’s primary responsibility is to assist the Operator in the safe, efficient production of quality rolls of film meet all product specifications.

 

Qualifications required:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Ability to complete on the job training with a qualification review at 3 to 6 months

 

Qualifications desired:

  • Ability read a tape measure in standard and metric units.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Basic data entry computer skills
 
Position Requirements

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Assist in operating a Blown Film Line in the safest possible manner from starting up, to running production and shutting line down.
  • Assist in maintaining raw materials such as resins, packaging supplies etc.
  • Assist in operations of the winder of the Blown Film line to ensure quality, on-specification film; e.g. pulling finished rolls, loading new cores onto winder shafts and loading shafts back onto winder
  • Assist in achieving standard blown film production rates efficiently, with minimum scrap
  • Assist Operator during Screen Change by threading the line, changing dull slitting blades and disposing of dull slitting blades properly
  • Assist in properly setting up the Winder to product specifications
  • Regularly check for correct roll widths and straight, smooth roll edges, and communicate any needs necessary to improve roll edge quality
  • Assist in properly labeling and packaging/palletize all production for traceability and product safety
  • Assist Operator in separating the film sheets, clearing wrap-ups, pulling film and other duties as required
  • Responsible for overall safety of his/her work area and to assist others to work safely.
  • Observe all Blown Film Safety Rules; e.g., safe handling of slitter blades and cutting tools, proper use and care of personal protective equipment, manually open nips before threading the line, etc.
  • Work with Extruder Operators, Leads, and Supervision to maintain housekeeping standards
  • Report any potential food safety, legality, quality or food defense concerns to the shift lead or quality personnel
  • Maintains product safety, legality, regulatory compliance and quality systems.
  • Follow all documented Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP’s)
  • Other duties as required
  • Must follow all company policies and procedures; e.g. attendance, dress code etc.
