Clinical Nurse
OVERVIEW: The Clinic Nurse Triage Focus position will work in coordination with and under the supervision of the Medical Director position at Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe Health Clinic. As an important member of an integrated healthcare delivery team, this position will help assist in promoting the health and wellbeing for the patients and community in a positive empowering manner. A significant portion of this position will be performing as a Triage Nurse. This includes answering calls from patients phoning in with a variety of concerns, assessing walk-in patients and directing them to appropriate care, and doing phone follow-up with patients with various issues such as lab and radiology testing and resulting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB:
In this position, you will need to be comfortable in the triage role. While talking to patients (or their family members) primarily over the phone, you will need to accurately assess and sort (triage) patients, depending on patient history and symptoms. You will decide if they should come into Clinic for an appointment with a Provider, go to our Covid testing Clinic, go to the Walk-In Clinic, or be sent to the Emergency Department.
Strong nurse assessment skills.
Perform basic life support, first aid and ACLS skills if necessary.
Administer standard medications, injections and immunizations per order.
Initiate IV access and fluids per order.
Perform all clinical activities within CLIA/OSHA standards and clinic policy/protocol.
Assume other duties as assigned by Clinic Nurse Manager or Medical Director.
Performance of initial Clinic check-in procedures of patients including recording of accurate vital signs and other pertinent information.
Preparation, stocking and maintenance of exam/clinical areas.
Assist providers as clinical standby or with procedures with appropriate sterile technique and blood borne pathogen precautions.
Ability to set up exam rooms for pap smears and minor surgical procedures.
Perform basis lab procedures including venipuncture, urine dip stick testing, hematocrits, pregnancy tests, rapid strep tests and other basic lab tests.
Perform EKG testing and oximetry testing as necessary.
Accurate and timely transmission of clinical information between medical providers and patients regarding medication refills and other issues as appropriate.
Accurate documentation of all care or advice rendered.
