Description

SAL Family and Community Services (SALFCS) is searching for a motivated and knowledgeable Human Resources Generalist to provide a high level of customer service to applicants, employees, and managers in all human resource processes under the Human Resources Director. This role supports the day-to-day functions of the human resources department by administering a high-quality recruitment and onboarding processes, assisting in payroll functions, data entry, reporting, benefits, administrative support to the Human Resources Director and department, and HRIS management. The Human Resources Generalist in partnership with the Human Resources Director compliance in all areas of employment law in accordance with federal and state regulations.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. The hours are Monday - Friday, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm. Temporarily, due to the pandemic, this position will work remotely until further notice.

Essential Functions

Human Resources Functions (90%):

  • Coordinate the employment process to include posting positions and monitoring posting performance in applicant tracking system and onboarding processes.
  • Complete all required reports and employment documents.
  • Update all employment changes into HRIS such as pay changes, employment terminations, status changes, etc.
  • Provide support to applicants, employees, and managers to address and resolve inquiries and problems related to the human resources function and HRIS.
  • Prepare, respond, and follow up on unemployment claims.
  • Interpret and provide guidance and recommendations related to policies and procedures in the employee handbook.
  • Audit I-9 documentation and maintain compliance with federal statutes.
  • Submit the investigation requests and assist with new employee background checks.
  • Assist with the maintenance and administration of the performance review process.
  • Manage and maintain the HRIS to include data entry and compliance monitoring.
  • Prepare personnel files for new hires.
  • Manage and administer health and welfare plans including monthly and annual open enrollments, changes, and terminations.
  • Oversee all Affordable Care Act (ACA) compliance and reporting functions such as notifications for those eligible for benefits.
  • Maintain and track FMLA and other leaves in accordance with established policies, procedures, and state and federal statutes.
  • Monitor and complete COBRA continuation requirements to employees.
  • Assist or prepare correspondence to applicants, employees, managers, executive leadership and/or the Board of Directors.
  • Work independently and/or in coordination with the Human Resources Director on special projects in a variety of human resource program areas such as learning and development, compensation, employment law, etc.

Administrative Functions (10%)

  • Make photocopies, fax documents, and performs other clerical functions.
  • Process mail.
  • Attend meetings, trainings, etc. as needed or requested.
