Walters Recycling & Refuse is currently seeking a  Welder to join our Maintenace Team!

Walters is a leading provider of waste collection and recycling services to both the public and private sectors in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. We are a family-owned and operated business started in 1988 with a fleet of over 85 diesel and compressed natural gas (CNG) powered trucks and over 100,000 customers.


This position works in direct cooperation with the Mechanic/Fleet Manager, as well as with the entire maintenance team. This position is responsible for the daily management of the container, roll-off box, truck welding, as well as general light maintenance to equipment and the property.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Heavy interaction with maintenance team members, management, and other key employees.
  • Works under limited supervision and selects from written instructions and established procedures to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Completes required paperwork using a fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, and containers, documenting parts usage and accounting for repair times.
  • Maintains a clean safe work area in compliance with company / OSHA standards, and performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.
  • Must have all the required tools to fulfill the responsibilities and requirements of the job.
  • Assists in other maintenance projects.
  • Assists in other projects as needed.

  • Provide levels of service that meet or exceed our customer expectations with regard to the entire service experience.
  • Interact with customers as needed to solve and rectify any issues and improve the overall customer experience.
  • Serve as a positive representative of the Company to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty to the Company.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Education and Experience 
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Two or more years of relevant welding experience.
  • Computer savvy – in learning fleet maintenance software.
  • Politeness, confidence, tact, patience, and diplomacy while dealing with complex problems
  • Motivational, listening, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work 40-45 hours per week.
