Salud Para La Gente (SALUD) provides high quality, comprehensive and cost-effective medical, dental, behavioral health, optometry and other services to underserved, low-income communities in the Monterey Bay area, including Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties. SALUD began in Watsonville in 1978 as a storefront free clinic, and is now a Federally Qualified Health Center. With 4 health center sites, school-based health centers and over 400 employees, we provide high quality services to patients of all ages.

Under the direct supervision of the Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Co-Directors, the EDI Coordinator is responsible for managing and facilitating the EDI effort through the direction of the EDI Co-Director Team. Project coordination includes administrative support and oversight and project management of EDI development and services.

This part-time (.5 FTE) position supports the organization's mission, vision, and values through excellence, competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, commitment to our community, accountability, and ownership.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

A. EDI Council Management

  1. Support EDI Co-Directors and collaborating teams with management of projects, including: preparation and distribution of agendas, meeting communication, scheduling and logistics, facilitating discussions, documenting discussions and decisions made and performing follow-up activities
  2. Facilitate communications and requests for access to resources from internal and external stakeholders

B. Project Management

  1. Manage project and co-management systems
  2. Facilitate design and testing through PDSAs and other quality improvement strategies
  3. Facilitate communication between Co-Directors, leadership team, Board, staff and stakeholders
  4. Support development and management of project materials and resources
  5. Oversee and support data collection, analysis and reporting related to project implementation and progress
  6. Facilitate outreach activities, including communications with current and potential stakeholders, development and distribution of related materials
  7. Represent EDI at meetings, as necessary
  8. Facilitate and support marketing opportunities and material development including PowerPoints, videos, and flyers
  9. Assist in logistics and preparation for meetings, conferences, and public events, including preparing the meeting spaces, distributing materials, and ensuring accessibility for individuals with disabilities
  10. Other assignments in support of Co-Directors as needed

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

Knowledge of: administrative practices, organizational principles and procedures; health information technology including electronic health record systems; customer service and patient centered health home principles.

Ability to: understand population health, social determinants of health, and health equity; work independently; communicate in respectful, empathetic and professional manner; work effectively with people from diverse backgrounds and at different professional levels to accomplish mutual goals; accomplish challenging goals in professional work environments; facilitate and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams; manage multiple responsibilities and prioritize tasks while meeting deadlines.

 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a health, social service, public policy, education, nonprofit or related area; or equivalent experience
  • One year of related work experience in a professional environment
  • Strong analytic, research, critical thinking and writing skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Virtual Conferencing Platforms.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English strongly preferred.
  • Work experience in the non-profit or public health sector preferred

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Standing, walking, sitting, typing, reaching, bending, moving and/or lifting up to 25 pounds.

SALARY AND BENEFITS:
