Position Summary:

As a Resort Engineer at Edgewood Tahoe, you are responsible for the overall upkeep and repair of the Edgewood Tahoe Resort. This responsibility will include proactively inspecting and repairing areas of the Grounds, Building Exterior, Public areas, Pool and Hot Tub area, Spa, Fitness Center, Kitchens and Guest Rooms. The Resort Engineer will respond and resolve any guest issues with great communication and expert resolution skills. Essential Functions:

  • Cover floors and furniture with drop cloths and tarps to protect surfaces
  • Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, or electric switch covers
  • Put up scaffolding and set up ladders if needed
  • Fill holes and cracks with putty, plaster, or other compounds
  • Prepare surfaces by scraping, wire brushing, or sanding to a smooth finish
  • Calculate the area to be painted and the amount of paint needed
  • Apply primers or sealers so that the paint will adhere
  • Choose paints and stains for desired color and appearance
  • Apply paint or other finishes, using hand brushes, rollers, or sprayers
  • Applying paint to interior walls makes surfaces attractive and vibrant. In addition, paints and other sealers protect exterior surfaces from erosion caused by exposure to the weather.
  • Because there are several ways to apply paint, workers must be able to choose the proper tool for each job, such as the correct roller, power sprayer, or brush. Choosing the right tool typically depends on the surface to be covered and the characteristics of the finish.
  • Maintenance painters remove old finishes and apply paints, stains and coatings to interior and exterior walls.
  • keep all equipment in good repair with a minimum of downtime by providing day to day maintenance and repairs of the Edgewood Tahoe Resort under the direction of the Facilities Manager/Director of Facilities.
  • To continually support and improve engineering services that effectively address problems affecting both guests and associates.
  • To be willing to train and instruct other members of the staff by passing along knowledge and skills to assist them in their development and the advancement of your own.

Tile Setter:

  • Previous experience as a tile setter and marble setter a plus
  • Knowledge of tiling designs and installation techniques.
  • Ability to operate hand and machine cutting tools.
  • To strive to become an independent mechanic, able to analyze problems and to formulate plans to get work done quickly with a high degree of quality.
  • Responds to guest service requests within designated department guidelines, ie.15 minutes from time of original call.
  • Guest Rooms-Responds to room calls, using proper entrance procedure. Makes repairs leak stains, doors, beds, drape and drawer guides, furniture touch up, and cosmetic repairs to items.
  • Fire Alarm/Life Safety System to monitor systems as necessary, to be fully informed of the system operation and to handle emergencies involving the systems. To have a working knowledge of fire sprinkler and emergency power systems.
  • Must always carry the engineering issue radio during your shift.
  • Emergencies-to be available for any emergencies and act in an engineering capacity to protect our guest and associates and preserve the building and its systems during the emergency. To act as quickly and responsibly as possible to return the building to its normal operating status. To inform the Facilities Manager/ Director of Facilities of any such incident.
  • Accident Prevention and Safety - to be aware of all existing departmental Job Safety Analysis and to strive to work in an accident-free manner and to create a safe work environment for others. To continuously look for conditions which may endanger associates or guests of the hotel and to take immediate action to correct any hazardous conditions found.

Position Requirements

Qualifications / Special Skills:

  • 5 years’ experience as an Engineer/ Painter at a Hotel/resort preferred.
  • Guest service background preferred.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills needed.
  • Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules (i.e., Lockout Tagout, JSAs), Safety Awareness information (such as SDS) operating and maintenance procedures. OSHA 10.
  • Ability to write routine logs and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively to guest and other associates.
  • Available to work varied shifts when needed, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
