Slitter Operator

Position summary: Help oversee production of the slitting equipment by following work instructions and shop order flow.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Follow production flow
  • Adjust machines as necessary
  • Assist with changeovers as necessary
  • Communicate quality issues to all necessary personnel
  • Complete all necessary production paperwork
  • Manage all materials line side needed to perform job accurately and efficiently (cores, packaging and other materials as needed)
  • Work safely and follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Receive incoming material
  • Follow all quality and food safety policies and procedures to ensure products meet all applicable customer, regulatory and industry standards
  • Meet or exceed Department set KPI’S (Key Performance Indicators) as described below
  • Train New Operators to run machines
  • Work with supervisor on ways to improve overall performance of area
  • Maintains product safety, legality, regulatory compliance, and quality systems
  • Report any potential food safety, legality, quality, or food defense concerns to the Plant Manager or Quality personnel
  • Follow all documented Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Must follow all company policies and procedures
  • All other duties as required
Position Requirements

Qualifications required:

  • 2-4 years flexible packaging equipment experience preferred
  • 2-4 years slitting experience
  • Knowledge of computers
  • Proficient mathematical and measurement skills
  • Knowledge of metric conversions
  • Use of handheld scanners helpful

Physical demands and work environment:

  • Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls: reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear. Employee must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Work environment: While performing the duties of this job the employee is/or may be exposed to high noise levels that require hearing protection. Employee may also be required to wear safety glasses and/or safety gloves.
