As an authority that’s relied on by consumers and communities, U.S. News empowers better life decisions.

Your role in helping us shape the future:

Become part of the health data analytics team responsible for generating the widely cited annual “Best Hospitals” rankings. This individual will work on developing novel hospital performance measures (covering concepts such as surgical outcomes and health equity), refining existing measures, and maintaining and expanding U.S. News & World Report’s portfolio of hospital and healthcare ratings. Every member of the team has a hand in shaping the ongoing evolution of the analytical methods used to inform millions of usnews.com users who face potentially life-altering healthcare decisions. In addition to the significant public visibility, the results of your work are closely followed by a diverse array of healthcare professionals. You will have opportunities to engage with academic researchers, doctors and healthcare executives.

Your primary responsibilities will be to help advance the research activities of the analytics team. On a day to day basis, you will write and review your teammates’ code to manage large Medicare administrative claims records and other data sets, develop and refine performance measures, and combine these metrics into simple, understandable and meaningful evaluations of healthcare providers such as hospitals, doctors and nursing homes. You will report to the Chief of Health Analysis.
