Vice President, Advancement

Description

The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures advances the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, initiatives, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery.

The Vice President (VP), Advancement is a key member of the Academy Museum’s leadership team and helps to secure a diverse range of resources to help the Museum achieve its mission. The Academy Museum successfully completed a $388MM fundraising campaign in the Fall of 2020 and will launch a new multi-year comprehensive (capital, programmatic, operating, and endowment) campaign post-opening.

The VP Will:

  • Develop an all-encompassing fundraising strategy—both short and long term.
  • Grow the museum’s endowment to enhance and sustain the museum’s diverse programs and collections.
  • Diversify and broaden donor support via foundation, corporate, membership, major giving, and planned giving programs.
  • Focus on building museum membership among motion picture arts practitioners, business professionals, and members of the public.
  • Work collaboratively across all arms of the Academy in an entrepreneurial environment, bringing creative ideas from conception to implementation.
  • Consistently cultivate and close six- and seven- and eight- figure gifts.
  • Raise support for Academy Foundation programs, including Library and Archival collections, Academy Gold and other educational programs, and other initiatives.
  • Develop excellent ongoing relationships with Academy Museum Board Members, Academy Members, the Academy Board, members of the film community, arts patrons, and members of the museum’s audience.
