Description

JOB PURPOSE:

The Housing Coordinator, under general direction of the Assistant Director of Housing, provides sound training of staff and mentoring of clients using a trauma-informed care, strengths-based approach in all aspects of therapeutic community living. Assist members in developing/maintaining structure in their daily routines while introducing appropriate elements of training, fun and socialization into their lives both individually and as a group.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for all the issues related to the day to day living and functioning of the lodge.

Responsibilities are carried out by teaching, training, supporting, coaching, and acting as a check and balance including, but not limited to, the following areas:

  • Development
  • Individual Budget
  • Household Management
  • Case Management Meetings
  • Hygiene
  • Healthy Living
  • Production Hours: Working, Volunteering, School, etc.
  • Referring to Services: Therapeutic Activities, Job Readiness Programs, GED, Financial Literacy, Mentorship, etc.
  • Inter-personal Relationships

Monitor quality and effectiveness of resident services. Create and maintain partnerships, with outside agencies to establish community collaborations to ensure residents' success. Monitor and evaluate progress and growth of lodge members through the community aspects of the program including, but not limited to:

  • Recreational/Leisure: Play Day, Hobbies, etc.
  • Social: Attendance to Meetings/Functions, Participation, Interactions, Hygiene, etc.
  • Educational/Vocational: Production Hours, Involved in an Activity, etc.
  • Emotional/Psychological: Involvement in Counseling Services, Involvement in additional services necessary for success
  • Goal Setting/Attainment

Supervise case managers and interns to ensure all interactions, classes and activities align with the trauma-informed, strengths-based program design. Provide on-going program evaluation, data tracking, random audits, and reporting to provide recommendations to the Assistant Director of Housing for continuous development, quality and contract requirements.

Empower clients to make educated decisions by utilizing the problem solving process. Assist them in learning how to properly utilize the group structure to help with large/small decisions and decisions for the group and/or individual lodge member.

Identify and provide emergency crisis services as necessary; make immediate clinical assessments and respond according to accepted crisis intervention methods and techniques; coordinate other

services as appropriate.

Complete weekly staff meetings with appropriate documentation; submit comprehensive resident files, update client files as needed. Prepare necessary incident reports.

Demonstrate exceptional customer service, in everything you do, by placing the child, family, Veteran or client first to support our mission to "Empower people to build better lives for themselves, their families and their communities."

 
Position Requirements

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Sociology, Psychology or related field. LPC, LCDC, or LMSW preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 5+ years of experience is a social service agency, 5+ years in a customer service focused environment. 2+ years management experience. Experience with mental health and/or a homeless population is a plus.

ATTENDANCE: Must maintain regular and acceptable attendance at such level as is determined in the employer's sole discretion.

LICENSES: Driver’s License with clear record. LPC, LCDC, or LMSW preferred.

VEHICLE: Must have daily use of a vehicle without prior notice.

OTHER: Must be available and willing to travel to various locations and with such frequency as the business need dictates. Must be available and willing to work nights, weekends and holidays as required to meet business needs. Must not pose a direct threat or significant risk of substantial harm to the safety or health of himself/herself or others.

EXCEPTIONS TO THESE CRITERIA MUST BE APPROVED BY THE DEPARTMENT HEAD.

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

COMMUNICATION: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively via oral or written means. Ability to present a friendly and positive demeanor to clients, staff, supportive services personnel, funders, and the general public. Ability to make oral presentations.

COMPOSURE: Ability to remain calm and maintain self-control in the midst of difficult circumstances and emergencies. Ability to respond in a professional manner in all situations.

COMPUTER: Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. 55 WPM, 90% accuracy.

DECISION MAKING: Ability to think analytically and evaluate the impact of Lodge Community decisions. Ability to set work priorities and to evaluate and create solutions to work related problems.

FINANCIAL: Strong math skills. Ability to provide budget input to clients and program.

NEGOTIATION: Ability to negotiate clients down from stressful situations, potential threatening behaviors. Ability to persuade clients to make appropriate life decisions.

TECHNICAL: Knowledge of case management services; City and County court systems, community resources, and disability benefits.

TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:

Orientation: 40 hours

On the Job: 3+ months for basic competency

MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT, WORK AIDS:

Multi-line telephone, computer, ten key calculator, printers, copiers, faxes and scanners.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Constant - Ability to communicate with staff, residents and support services to determine needs and actions to be taken.

Frequent - Ability to observe clients to evaluate mental, emotional and physical condition.

Frequent - Ability to input data into computer, make calculations, complete paperwork, produce reports.

Occasional - Ability to bend, kneel, reach or stoop to perform lodge inspections and demonstrate life skills. Occasional - Ability to lift, stack, load and move up to 25 pounds from varied heights.

Occasional - Ability to drive safely and recognize hazards.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Indoors: 70 % - Office and residential environment; generally normal noise level. Outdoors: 30 % - All weather conditions and variable temperatures.

RELATION TO OTHER JOBS:

REPORTS TO: Assistant Director of Housing

SUPERVISES: Case Managers and Interns
