Position Director of Marketing

General Description:

As our Director of Marketing, you will work under the direction of the Chief Executive Officer and be responsible for leading Alliant’s marketing and communication strategies, directing the implementation of the company’s overall brand and image and managing the marketing team.

The Director of Marketing is the creative leader of the company and communicates with individuals at all levels of the organization. You will be expected to communicate your vision to the Senior Management Team while also leading and directing the work of others to achieve that vision. In addition to creativity, you must demonstrate poise, tactfulness, and diplomacy and possess a high level of interpersonal skills.

You will be responsible for managing the Marketing Team including Proposal Managers/Coordinators, Marketing Coordinators, Marketing Assistants, and Graphic Designers and taking an active role in mentoring the marketing staff.



  • Drive to explore new marketing methods, styles and/or approaches.
  • Demonstrated initiative to think strategically.
  • Confidence level required to sell initiatives to Senior Management.
  • Demonstrated ability to think independently and move projects through various stages to completion.
  • Awareness of Alliant’s practice, clientele, goals, policies and procedures
  • Ability to lead and manage marketing strategies across multiple offices in different regions of the United States
  • Knowledge of marketing fundamentals in relation to A/E/C industry
  • Ability to plan work activities for the Marketing Group and appropriately supervise the team members.
  • Ability to organize large amounts of information and work on many complex projects at one time.
  • Ability to be in positions of leadership both inside and outside of Alliant Engineering.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Understanding of CRM database usage


Position Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute a marketing strategy for the organization and for new and existing products, services or markets
  • Oversee the implementation of the marketing strategy
  • Develop and maintain the Alliant brand strategy
  • Set and administer an annual marketing budget
  • Guide the day-to-day activities of the marketing team.
  • Continually review changes to the market, consumer trends and the activities of competitors, adjusting the marketing plan if necessary
  • Provide tools and materials to enable the business development team to function effectively
  • Manage and refine the organization’s web and social media presence
  • Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing strategies
  • Identify new business opportunities
  • Conduct market research studies
  • Engages in professional events, groups and societies on behalf of Alliant Engineering, Inc.
Position Requirements

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Business with eight or more years of progressive marketing experience is required. Experience working in a professional services firm is preferred but not required.
