Share Email Opening Title Property Accountant  Location TPS - Sumner   Description POSITION Tarragon Property Services provides property management for a diverse portfolio of multifamily and commercial/retail properties. The key position will provide full-cycle accounting support to several entities in residential and commercial real estate. Specific duties include managing cash positions, posting journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and preparing full financials. This is a key position in our finance organization and has routine exposure with senior management. The position reports directly to the Controller and works closely with Business Managers to provide accounting and general business support.    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Perform month end closing tasks including recording journal entries, calculating accruals, performing variance analyses, and reconciling GL accounts. Responsible for preparation and analysis of financial statements and internal reports for assigned entities in accordance with closing calendar (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, Equity Summary and Cash Flow Statement). Manage and maintain timely and accurate cash management, including monthly bank reconciliations and cash flow forecasting to Senior Management to ensure entities are adequately funded to meet its obligations. Responsible for fixed asset accounting for assigned entities, including capital vs. expense, WIP tracking, recommending useful lives and depreciation schedules for asset additions. Prepare annual Federal Tax Return supporting documentation for all assigned entities. Assist with preparation of the annual budgets and monthly forecasting for assigned entities. Participate in special projects as needed or directed by Controller which may include identifying and implementing process improvements, participation in software upgrades and supporting business growth.   Position Requirements REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or similar. Experience in all phases of accounting from transaction level through completion of financial statements. Experience in real estate or property management preferred.  Highly proficient in Microsoft Office products – Excel, Word, and Outlook. CPA or CPA eligible desired. Detail-oriented with a passion for organization. Ability to engage in a variety of tasks simultaneously and to consistently meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal skills including ability to deliver well written reports and business correspondence.  Is a team player; volunteers readily; seeks increased responsibilities; asks for assistance and offers help when needed or able.
