Driver Services Manager  

Description

PURPOSE.

Provide problem solving support to all Driver Team Members throughout their tenure with the company. Support driver recruiting and retention efforts by overseeing driver onboarding processes. Create an informative and supportive environment for new entrants into the transportation industry and become a conduit of support for experienced Drivers. Address questions, concerns, or any training/orientation related processes. Exercise personal ownership to the wellbeing of the Driver.

 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES.

  • Information resource for students and new/existing Drivers.
  • Communicate with Drivers to promote a positive environment.
  • Coordinate with Facilities Staff to ensure that students/drivers are at designated locations.
  • Responsible for coordinating effective communication of equipment assignments to new drivers.
  • Chair weekly meetings with Operations, Facilities staff, and Recruiting to provide update on issues and activities regarding students/Drivers.
  • Create awareness for the driver referral program among new and existing drivers.
  • Responsible for submitting termination requests for drivers that leave the company before pulling their first load.
  • Responsible for submitting requests for Commdata cards to be turned off for drivers that leave the company before pulling their first load.
  • Responsible for coordinating with multiple departments to ensure effective resolution of Driver issues.
  • Responsible for the training and education of Onboarding Managers.
  • Responsible for tracking driver turnover to provide suggestions to improve retention and resolution improvements.
  • Ability to deliver exceptional service through positive engagement and patience.
  • Ability to work in a team environment to continuously improve results.
  • Able to promote a culture of trust and safety.
 
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years in an operations management role or relevant experience.
  • General knowledge of DOT regulations and continuing education in regulatory and compliance.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS.

  • Ability to develop team members through effective coaching skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to exercise independent decision-making skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships (to help produce the right results).
  • Ability to effectively plan to meet deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office.

 

SUPERVISES OTHERS.

This position supervise others and responsible for being results oriented, collaborative, delegate effectively and strive for harmony, ensuring team effectiveness.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS.

This position will be required to work in an office environment with moderate noise levels, and, with or without reasonable accommodation is required:

  • to sit, stand, stoop, kneel and occasionally move up to 20 pounds,
  • manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard on a daily basis,
  • stamina to sit for extended periods of time, lift or carry printed materials, and
  • possess vision sufficient to read a monitor, printed text and hand written documents,
  • be able to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.
