Description

Position purpose/summary:

Prepares food that results in high quality of taste and appearance to satisfy guests and maximize food revenues.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Prepares meals in accordance with the portion and quality standards specified in recipes or as otherwise designated by servers within policy; controls food usage to minimize waste.

Prepares the next day’s work on a daily basis.

Advises supervisor of low inventory items; assists in receiving items and taking inventory as required.

Maintains sanitation and cleanliness standards in the kitchen area that meet or exceed the state and local Health Board requirements

Reports all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment to supervisor.

May assist by performing dish washer or other kitchen duties as needed.

Be in proper uniform when on duty

Job duties include, although are not limited to:

Basic reading, writing and math skills one year of food preparation experience.

Interpersonal communication skills.

Attention to detail.

Maintains a good attitude and works well with other team members.

Must work well with or without direct supervision.

Needs to be flexible, self- motivated, positive and have a professional attitude towards guests, co-worker and management.

EDUCATION: Completion of High School diploma or equivalent

EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.

Requires oral and written communication skills.

Culinary school or related training preferred.

Previous experience in hospitality or club operations preferred.

Ability to handle multiple tasks and work well in an environment with time constraints

Must possess applicable state/local licenses and certifications

PHYSICAL:

This job requires ability to perform the following: carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds, moving around the kitchen, handling food, objects, products and utensils, ending, stooping and kneeling. May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays. Constant standing and walking throughout shift. Occasional environmental exposures to cold, heat, and water.
