Customer Payments Rep I 

Description

This is an entry level cashiering position receiving extensive supervision and frequent reviews from the Customer Payments Team Leader and Customer Relations Supervisor. Receives, counts, balances and reports cash and negotiable instruments for payment of all monies received by the City of Thomasville. Receives payment and returns receipt to customer. Counts and bands money received frequently during the workday;daily deposits must equal postings and monies deposited in bank. Gives information to other divisions and the public, applying significant knowledge of departmental rules, regulations and procedures to interpretation made. Provides outstanding customer service that meets or exceeds the needs and reasonable expectations.

 
Position Requirements

Must have High School diploma or G.E.D. Additional classes involving bookkeeping and clerical work preferred. Knowledgeable in Excel and Microsoft Word preferred. Experience as a customer service representative preferred. Ability to make routine decisions dealing with complex, customer service sensitive issues and in accordance with ordinances and regulation and to apply these to work problems and general public is desired. Ability to make mathematical computations accurately and with reasonable speed required. Ability to establish and maintain effective work relationship with the general public and employees desired.

 
Physical/Environmental Requirements Mobility to work in typical office settings using standard office equipment is required. In addition, vision to read printed materials and computer screen and hearing and speech to communicate in person or over the telephone.
