Description

Koniag Government Services is looking for a Database Administrator – SQL DBA to join our team in support of a federal client located in Fort Collins, CO. Pursuant to PL 93-638, as amended, Preference will be given to qualified applicants who are a member of a Federally Recognized Native American Tribe.

Essential Functions:

  • The SQL Server DBA will be responsible for the implementation, configuration, maintenance, and performance of critical SQL Server RDBMS systems, to ensure the availability and consistent performance for applications.
  • SQL DBA ensuring SQL servers have the latest patches and updates.
  • Manage SQL Server databases through multiple product lifecycle environments.
  • Configure and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring of system health and performance, to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
  • Perform scheduled maintenance and support release deployment activities after hours. 
  • Provide technical support in solving, and correcting issues in real time, providing problem resolution end-to-end.
 
Position Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years’ SQL Server Database Administration 
  • Experience with Performance Tuning and Optimization using monitoring tools.
  • Communication and Documentation skills for gathering requirements, documenting highly technical processes
  • Experience with backups, restores and recovery models
  • Experience working with Windows server clustering
  • Server and System administration including auditing security and making (ongoing) security changes Strong computer skills
  • Experience with incident ticketing systems (Remedy or ServiceNow)

Working Environment & Conditions

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The work load may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, perform simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move items that weigh up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
