Description

Tuknik Government Services, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced System Administrator in the Denver area.  This is a full time position supporting TGS and our government customer in the Denver, CO area.

The Administrator will be responsible for:

  • Conducting daily systems administration task such as loading operating systems, updating firmware and BIOS, installing latest patches and anti-virus, pro-actively monitoring of servers and storage, tape back-ups/failover, routine maintenance, change management and regular documented reporting of system maintenance. 
  • Manage, support, and maintain application authorization and authentication for active directory objects, planning applications, files, folders, and applicable shared services
  • Manage, support, and maintain COTS software, ensuring releases quality and ecosystems compatibility with co-located software
  • Automation of systems tasks, scripts, and critical services across all servers
  • Maintain and update application servers to provide various software updates and application enhancements
  • Automate standard systems administration tasks, scripts, & monitoring activities to fullest extent possible.
  • Conducting support for desktop, laptops, computer peripherals, printers and multi-functional devices. 
  • Providing technical assistance, consultation, and briefings 
  • Setup and administration of complex multi-tier computing system environments 
  • Development and maintenance of technical documentation and network diagrams 
  • Performing daily checks and maintain up-time for all active test environments 
  • Participating and contributing to a team approach to systems administration and problem solving 
  • Analyzing configuration issues and developing solutions to individual end-user problems 
  • Maintaining passwords, data integrity and file system security for the desktop/laptop environment 
  • Communicating technical information to both technical and non-technical personnel 
  • Assisting with the recommendation of hardware and software solutions 
 
Position Requirements

Education, Knowledge, Skills::

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Min: 5 years of Information Technology experience with three or more years of specialized experience in hands-on system administration and software application development experience in a production environment  
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills 
  • Desired certifications: A+, Net+, Sec+, MCP, and/or ITIL v3/2011 Foundations 
  • Knowledge of and experience with Service Desk related applications 
  • Ability to resolve difficult or challenging problems within the assistance of senior support or the use of outside software analysis support 
  • Proactive approach to problem solving 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Products including Visio and Project 
  • Proven record of successful execution in cross-team collaborative IT environment 
  • Strong documentation, diagramming, and reporting skills 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 
  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment. 

Working Environment & Conditions

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The work load may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, perform simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move items that weigh up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
