Description

Tuknik Government Services, a Koniag Government Services company, is seeking an experienced Database Administrator in the Denver area.  This is a full time position supporting TGS and our government customer in the Denver, CO area.

The Database Administrator provides expert level database implementation and operation to support a medium scale IT O&M effort. The candidate will assist with the documentation, deployment and administration of redundant 24/7 IT systems as well SOPs associated with system implementation and operation. The successful candidate should possess all necessary troubleshooting and problem solving skills pertinent for a database administrator.

The Administrator will:

  • Perform technical administration of application databases to support archiving, data extracts, transformations, versioning, replication, and similar functions ensure operational efficiencies
  • Perform enterprise backup and restoration strategies and implemented, validated, and tested
  • Develop, create, and operationally maintain database instances, objects, and tables
  • Manage, maintain, and monitor versioning, DB replication, achieving, and other functions ensure availability and operational stability
  • Perform data Clean-up/System/ Requirement Analysis and Audit Support
  • Provide enterprise preventive database maintenance
  • Provide preventative and proactive database disk management on usage, sizing, and performance
  • Database monitor, alert, diagnose and report on the performance, develop and tune script and queries utilizing DBA tools
  • Leverage DB tools for tracing, recreating, and troubleshooting concerns to analyze and replay a specific series of steps.
  • Actively review database job activity and create alerts of potential future outages are automatically sent, as well as actionable performance alerts that include low hardware resources or deadlock.
  • Proactively perform capacity management focus on storage management across all servers and databases
  • Document all system process, DB scripts, monitoring, replication, configurations, and architecture setting across the ecosystems
  • Test and validate backup restoration strategies with customer as ongoing activities and provide forward-thinking opportunities
 
Position Requirements

Education, Knowledge, Skills::

  • Experience must include Oracle Database Server administration with database design;
  • Experience must include operating in a secure environment to include deploying security controls to the Linux operating system;
  • Experience must include creating database server images which support multiple server generations;
  • Operational database creation and maintenance;
  • Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; evidence of skills analyzing information technology issues, evaluating alternatives, and making logical recommendations based on findings; ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusion; and
  • Proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.  
  • Oracle Certified Professional Certification preferred

Working Environment & Conditions

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The work load may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, perform simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move items that weigh up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
