Job Summary:

In this position, the Systems Administrator (SA) is responsible for escalation support of network and systems issues. The SA works as part of the Service Desk team to ensure client requests are resolved in a timely manner and that clients are kept informed of the progress and status of their requests. The SA delivers top-quality, technical service to clients both remotely and on site. The SA uses in-house enterprise tools for network device monitoring and centralized network asset management in the delivery of managed services. The SA provides a high level of service to clients and demonstrates strong customer-relationship skills in maintaining a high level of satisfaction with our clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes; reviewing system and application logs; and verifying completion of scheduled jobs.
  2. Performs daily back-up operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up and stored off site and locally.
  3. Supports Windows Server operational needs.
  4. Installs new/rebuilds existing servers and configures hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
  5. Researches and recommends innovative and, where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks.
  6. Maintains all networks, hardware, and software, updated with required patches and upgrades, to keep the system highly secured. Performs regular security monitoring and analysis to identify any possible intrusions.
  7. Creates, changes, and deletes user accounts per request.
  8. Provides escalated support assistance per request from various constituencies. Investigates and troubleshoots issues.
  9. Maintains operational, configuration, or other procedures and related technical documentation.
  10. Performs periodic performance evaluations to support capacity planning.
  11. Performs ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required. Configures CPU, memory, and disk partitions as required.
  12. Maintains data center environmental and monitoring equipment.
  13. Checks logs, creates reports, and advises leadership in case of operation challenges.
