MCIP Lead

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems (PDS) is currently looking for a “dynamic, results driven” individual to join us as an MCIP Lead at our Kokomo Technical Center located in Kokomo, Indiana.

In this role, and under direct supervision of the GSM Manager, the MCIP Lead will be the leader for all cost reduction activities for PDS globally or regionally in coordination with engineering and the responsible PDS plant.  The MCIP Lead will lead the total cost management (TCM) program for PDS globally or regionally.


Key Accountabilities

  • Change agent / leader for all cost reduction activities in PDS / Region
  • Lead the total cost management (TCM) program for PDS globally or regionally (MCIP, IMCIP, MEIT, phase 0/2 cost control
  • Balance “idea generation” with “idea execution” within the responsible PDS Plant
  • Assist plants and finance to prepare the material cost savings budget with regards to direct material, indirect materials and manufacturing expenses
  • Conduct effective product and business team core team reviews maintaining a high profile and focus in project management and “close the gap” plans towards target achievements
  • Develop a highly effective team for TCM within PDS providing leadership, mentoring and coaching
  • Work closely with Product Line Executives and Plant Managers to identify priorities and resource gaps
  • Lead workshops for idea generation and own the process to “fill the hopper”
  • Participate in and facilitate project reviews from follow up through execution
  • Establish and liaise the cross-functional work within PDS
  • Share and deploy best practices and TCM tools at PDS plants
  • Report out progress to GSM and PDS Leadership
  • Ensure data is accurate and reliable ensuring the proper validation and audit by finance
  • Work within PDS as it relates to constantly evaluating “make vs. buy” opportunities
  • Work within PDS to develop “product saleable cost models” for strategic products
  • Participate in purchasing related internal meetings, including making presentations to senior management
  • Process and Procedure Maintenance
  • Maintain proper compliance to corporate purchasing practices
  • Trouble shoot purchasing system issues
  • Maintain purchasing process documentation
  • Participate and liaison with other Global Commodity Managers and Commodity Buyers at other PDS sites (plants and technical centers
  • Work toward consistency, alignment, communication and adoption of best practices
  • Conduct and participate in layered purchasing audits in prep for 3rd party reviews (ie. IATF TS16949)
  • Metrics
  • Create, maintain, and publish regular metrics to communicate overall team performance
  • Conduct continuous improvement efforts, coordinate cost reduction efforts
  • Travel
  • Up to 10%, both domestic and international

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related discipline (PE or ME preferred)
  • 3-5 years’ experience in related field
  • Capable of working in a team-based environment
  • Professional interpersonal verbal and written communication required
  • Must have organizational skills including the ability to prioritize, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines
  • Proficient with Microsoft office products — Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint
