This is your opportunity to join Woodland park Zoo as an HR Coordinator with the People & Culture team! There is one regular, full-time, benefited position available. 

The HR Coordinator serves as the day-to-day systems and services point person for recruiting, hiring and onboarding employees and interns across the organization. This role provides excellent internal and external customer service by consulting with hiring teams and responding to queries about requisitions, onboarding and employment opportunities at the zoo.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responds to applicant or hiring manager inquiries in a timely fashion. Communicates in a clear, effective, and professional manner.
  • Actively works to reduce barriers and promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in the recruiting, hiring, and onboarding process.
  • Handles confidential information in an appropriate, professional, and respectful manner.
  • Meets with hiring managers to understand the needs, pay, and other parameters of new positions through formal intake meetings.
  • Works with the HR Generalist to create and post hiring requisitions.
  • Posts new requisitions to external sites as directed by the hiring manager. Confirms proper approvals for any costs associated to external postings.
  • Develops phone screen questions in partnership with hiring managers and conducts phone screens for open positions. Schedules interviews for hiring managers upon request.
  • Coordinates the issuance of offer letters with the hiring manager and People & Culture team.
  • Processes new hires in the ATS and HRIS systems. Records and fills parking pass requests and creates nametags for new hires.
  • Collects and maintains employee, intern, and applicant documentation as dictated by applicable governing agencies and internal policies. 
  • Supports the new hire paperwork process, reminds new hires to complete necessary pre-hire steps such offer letter acceptance, background check, or pre-hire paperwork; supports hiring managers in the new hire process.
  • Reviews background and driving history checks, brings any concerns to the HR Generalist or other designated P&C team member.
  • Conducts onboarding meetings for new and returning employees.
  • Verifies and reviews I-9 documents for compliance with USCIS and other legal requirements.
  • Maintains procedural documentation, policies, presentations, forms, training content, and other organizational resources.
  • Assists with the development and delivery of recruiting and hiring related training.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with vendors to meet business needs.
  • Assists with compliance related to USCIS, EEO-1, and other legal mandates.
  • Responds to internal and external HR related inquires or requests to provide assistance.
  • Redirect HR related calls or emails to the appropriate person of the team.
  • Schedule meetings, orientations, HR events, and maintain the team’s agenda.
  • Produce and submit reports and metrics on HR activities as assigned.
  • Assist in ad-hoc HR projects, like collection of employee feedback. 
  • Assist the HR Generalist with employee relations.
  • Support the HR Generalist and the People & Culture team by assisting with departmental tasks, projects and other activities.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
     

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Two-year Associates degree or equivalent from an accredited college or university and two years of Human Resources experience including recruiting; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong attention to detail with an emphasis on accuracy.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ATS and HRIS systems and applications.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain documents such as policies, procedures, and safety materials.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Knowledge of human resources processes and best practices. 
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, which may include some evenings and/or weekends as needed.
     

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Knowledge of Ascentis HRIS systems.
  • Experience with recruiting and applicant tracking systems.
     

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • This position may be required to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to a typical office environment and/or outdoor weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay: $24 - $27 per hour, based on experience
