Job Title: Lending Consultant Sales Support Specialist

Department: Consumer Lending Department

Reports to: Lending Consultant Manager

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Summary: Individuals in the job are responsible for assisting Tropical Financial Credit Union in the achievement of its purpose of guiding members successfully through the financial marketplace. This position is responsible for providing a broad range of lending and sales administrative and compliance related support activities to ensure member satisfaction.

General Responsibilities: This position is responsible for working closely with Sales Lending Specialists in a fast paced, dynamic member-centric environment, handling a large amount of approved loans by assisting with collecting and verifying document deficiencies, post funding wrap-up steps as well as ongoing maintenance, monitoring, guiding and helping our member through our lending process to help expedite loan closings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Support the Lending Consultant team by communicating with members regarding loan decisions, process and documents needed.
  • Review loan applications to assure accuracy, completeness and compliance of documentation, disclosures and collateral.
  • Assist as a backup to follow up on all pending loans on a daily basis.
  • Follow up on missing loan documents.
  • Review loan documents daily, ensure follow-up for compliance and ensure they are ready for processing and closing, including scheduling appointments for loan closings.
  • Conduct daily follow-ups on existing drafts to verify if documents are ready to process the loan.
  • Maintain comprehensive and updated knowledge of Fair Lending rules and all other related CU policies and procedures as well as federal, state and local rules.
  • Responsible for explaining to members the different types of loans and credit options available.
  • Analyze credit reports, debt to income ratios, loan to value, rates, terms, etc.
  • Review with the member the final numbers once the draft is ready for closing.
  • Respond to loan inquiries and questions from Hubspot, Member Services Call Center and Branches.
  • Follow up to ensure compliance and completion of membership applications, including member signatures with dates.
  • Needs to answer Title work questions for private sales, lease buyouts, title changes, etc.
  • Confer with Lending Consultants and loan processors to aid in resolving any loan application issues or requests.
  • Assist member with questions after the loan is funded and/or route them to the correct department.
  • Must be able to interpret the Credit Analysts' approval terms and conditions.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines in an organized and timely fashion.
  • Effectively be able to assist irate members, build rapport and create a 'WOW' experience.

  • Has a professional background in Consumer Lending.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as - (policies, procedures, rules, regulations, operating and maintenance instructions).
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively with members or employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiple and divide in all measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to use the computer (MS Outlook, Excel and Word)
  • Ability to analyze financial data, compute rates, ratio, and percentages.
  • Ability to apply good business sense in communicating detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Participates in teamwork related activities by willingness to ensure the team’s success.
  • Willingness and ability to learn new tasks and duties within a changing environment with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Previous sales and conflict resolution training.
  • Professional composure in conflicting situations

Education and/or Experience:

  • Minimum three years of lending and customer service experience in a call center or related environment.
  • High school diploma or general education (GED). One of two years performing database maintenance operations.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, sit and use hands to handle or touch. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to focus.
