Mocksville is a full service town and the Board of Commissioners place a high value on responsiveness to the citizens and ensuring that Mocksville is well run. Ensuring good management and providing reliable public services is the objective of the Town. The Mayor and Board of Commissioners appreciate the Council-Manager form of government and are seeking a leader to serve as the chief administrative officer of the organization. There are a variety of opinions on the Board and it will be Town Manager’s work to develop consensus and a clear common vision. Demonstrated leadership abilities are sought in diverse areas from law enforcement to yard waste. An important aspect of this management work is as a role model with leadership by example executed with humility. A core function of the Town Manager is establishing relationships with various stakeholders, community groups, and partner agencies in the community. An important part of this work is to exhibit a strong community presence – specifically related to economic development with an emphasis to outreach to the business community.

 

Qualifications –

Leadership attributes and communication skills focused on the delivery of public services are what is sought in the Mocksville Town Manager. A successful candidate must demonstrate skills in leadership, administration, budgeting, and economic development as applied in a municipal management setting. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate and effectively represent the Town publicly while positively engaging citizens. The basic desired qualifications include a bachelor degree in finance, business, or public administration. A candidate may distinguish themselves with a master degree. Mocksville places an emphasis on the Town Manager being a member of the International City and County Management Association (ICMA) and the North Carolina City and County Management Association (NCCCMA). The Board supports and encourages the Manager to be or become an ICMA credentialed manager within a reasonable period of being employed.

 

Salary –

The salary for this position is negotiable based upon the candidate’s qualifications and experience and is supplemented by an excellent benefit package. Completion of salary history information is an expected response to the application process.
