About the Role
Responsibilities
- Instruct students on the various training programs offered
- Complete and submit appropriate course documentation accurately and efficiently
- Assist with developing course material and information – manuals, reference materials, lesson plans, presentations and promotional packages – as required
- Maintain safety certifications and training in accordance with HSE standards
- Ensure that an adequate supply of course material is available
- Ability to learn and teach HSE specific courses
- Assist Station Manager as requested
Education and Certifications
- Certified to instruct the following courses under WorkPlaceNL:
- Fall Protection
- Confined Space Entry
- Power Line Hazards
- OH&S Committee
- Supervisor Health & Safety
- Traffic Control
- A valid, unrestricted Driver’s Licence (Please note, a valid licence does not include a Learner’s Permit or Graduated Licence)
- A Driver's Abstract indicating an unrestricted license with no serious traffic safety violations and 4 or less convictions of any type in the last 36 months
Preference will be given to candidates who are certified to instruct any of the following:
- Energy Safety Canada
- H2S Alive
- Gas Detection
- Control of Flammable Substances
- Equipment Operator Safety Courses
- Forklift
- Elevating Work Platform (Scissor/Boom Lifts)
- Overhead Crane
- Rigging
- Slinging
- Banksman
- Industry Competencies
- Confined Space Rescue
- Respiratory Protective Equipment (APR, SCBA, SABA)
- Quantitative Respirator Fit Testing
- Advanced Atmospheric Gas Testing
Experience
- Preference will be given to candidates with a background in Occupational Health and Safety with successful completion of a recognized post-secondary program
- Three years of oilfield experience with previous construction and safety experience
- Possess a good understanding of all applicable provincial safety legislations
- Competent computer skills including proficiency with MS Office applications and the ability to operate audio/visual equipment
