General Summary:
A load builder assembles building materials and lumber for delivery and customer pick up. Additional duties include waiting on customers in the yard, loading and unloading of materials, accompanying drivers when needed, and maintaining good housekeeping and security. This position will take place mostly outdoors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Treat all customers in a courteous and friendly manner
- Prepare and assemble materials for shipment.
- Load trucks at the direction of the dispatcher.
- Place incoming inventory in the proper location.
- Drive forklifts as duties require and in accordance with safety regulations and company procedures.
- Keep the yard clean and the merchandise orderly at all times.
- Use proper material handling techniques to reduce damage to goods.
- Adhere to all safety and fire regulations.
- Inspect forklift on a daily basis and perform all minor maintenance necessary for that day’s operation.
- Assist warehouse drivers as directed by warehouse manager.
- Rotate stock whenever possible.
- Keep proper shipping and receiving paperwork.
- Measuring, cutting, reading and writing skills.
- Operation of table and panel saws as well as small hand tools.
- Other duties as assigned.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a warehouse setting and is subject to the outdoor elements.
Physical Demands
This is customer facing position and qualified candidates will be required to use their arms, hands, legs and back regularly. This role would also require the ability to lift, bend, walk and stand as necessary, as well as lift 65+ pounds consistently.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. Some Saturday work will also be required during peak season.
