Under the direction of the Manager of Safety and Security, the Retail Security Guard will provide Safety and Security services at the Opportunity Village Retail Store, through enforcement of company policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Aids store management to communicate current shrinkage and safety topics
  2. Observes customers’ activities to detect theft, fraud or suspicious activity
  3. Takes direction from Manager of Safety and Security and Retail Store Manager to monitor team member activity as needed. Reports infractions of company policy to Manager of Safety & Security and/or store management
  4. Open and close building when required, to include locking/unlocking perimeter doors and arming/disarming burglar alarm systems
  5. Conduct Security patrols and Safety inspections throughout the property.
  6. Identify and address potential hazards to customers and employees; take initiative to correct minor hazards, conduct incident investigations and complete associated reports
  7. Liaise and coordinate with the local Grass Roots Safety Team for Safety-related matters
  8. Meet and greet all entering personnel. Randomly check customer receipts when they depart with merchandise.
  9. Assist with video surveillance and Safety and Security reporting and investigations
  10. Identify and communicate all security incidents or other policy violations to the Manager of Safety and Security
  11. Check security cameras for proper operation daily. Report discrepancies to the Manager of Safety and Security.
  12. Provide guidance and assistance in emergency situations
  13. Provide excellent customer service
  14. Perform other duties as assigned
 
Position Requirements

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Learn and stay up to date on Company policy and procedures relating to loss prevention and relevant local legal requirements
  • Balanced Temperament – Maintains composure and handles high-stress situations in a calm/effective manner. Handles difficult situations with discretion.
  • Provide great customer service; cooperate and build positive, inclusive and respectful relationships; take accountability for own actions and outcomes.
  • Proactively find ways to improve the customer experience; show the confidence and courage to do what’s right; take action with energy and urgency.
  • Must be computer literate with strong emphasis on Windows, Word, Outlook and Excel.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Required: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Required: Two years’ work experience in Retail Security-related field
  • Required: Reliable transportation to work a flexible schedule
  • Preferred: Experience working with individuals with disabilities

  • Ability to lift and move boxes up to 40 pounds

  • Position is generally 90 percent in a climate-controlled environment
