Description

Reporting to the Chief of Warehouse Operations, the Director of Warehouse Operations is responsible for directing all warehouse/supply chain operations including receiving, inventory, pulling, staging and transportation of all fresh, frozen and shelf stable food items. This position is responsible for inventory management at three warehouse locations using NetSuite and WAERLinx (a warehouse management system for NetSuite). Further responsibilities include ensuring all staff execute against SOPs for each stage of the supply chain, improving processes, and preparing and analyzing reports for information sharing across warehouse, regional and program teams, and data driven decision making for more accurate, efficient, safe and effective warehouse operations and deliveries to partners.

 

This position is also responsible for overseeing the maintenance and for all warehouse equipment, all safety measures, equipment use training, facilities cleanliness and upkeep as well as food safety rules and regulations.

Essential Functions:

 

  • Designs, develops and executes operational procedures for activities along the supply chain from verification of incoming food, to food movement within the warehouse and distribution to partners and programs.
  • Maintaining accurate inventory
  • Ensures food is received and distributed from external vendors and from other food bank warehouses in an efficient manner in an effort to eliminate stock outs, delays in order fulfillment, box building, and meeting delivery windows.
  • Establishes and accomplishes warehouse operations human resource objectives including recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff;
  • Communicates job expectations; plans, monitors, appraises, and reviews job contributions; planning and reviewing compensation actions; enforcing policies and procedures
  • Implements best practice warehouse management design to optimize space, via racking design and other alternatives, to maximize staff productivity
  • Uses data to ensures efficient utilization of storage space – dry, cooler and freezer
  • Maintain records for each stage of the supply chain for audit purposes
  • Responsible for enforcing company policies of conduct and safety
  • Identifies the causes of product losses and takes correction action
  • Promotes team environment and works collaboratively to achieve team goals
  • Seeks new and better ways to operate by researching and participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations
  • Monitors and reports warehouse KPI metrics to be shared with Senior leadership
  • Keeps up to date on information and technology affecting functional area(s) to increase innovation, ensure compliance and improve operational efficiencies.

Position Requirements
  • 4-year BA degree in a related field.
  • Must have ten (10) plus years-experience with Warehousing, Supply Chain, Logistics, Distribution and Inventory Systems
  • Possess strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Possess excellent written, verbal communication skills, and mathematical skills
  • Strong computer system skills; excel skills and data management
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high energy environment and manage multiple priorities; deadline-oriented
  • Ability to delegate responsibility and authority to maximize employees’ skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and drive change
  • Ability to operate a forklift

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and take charge of teams to get results through others in a timely manner.
  • Strong proficiency in inventory or data warehousing software.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and strong Budgeting / Forecasting skills.
  • Strong data and analytic abilities
  • Possess an ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong management skills especially effective communication and teamwork skills across departments to meet goals and complete tasks on time.
  • Ability to foster a cooperative work environment using an effective leadership style to the team being supervised.
  • Possess strong decision-making and leadership skills.
  • Experience working in a warehouse and/or non-profit environment.
  • Ability to work with a diversified group of people.
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively solve problems as well as implement improvements to processes and established systems.
  • Experience administering a Safety Program with adherence to OSHA regulations.
  • Establish a solid Food Safety Program to meet all required AIB Food Safety Standards.
