The primary role of the Field Trainer is responsible for managing the schedule, training, and coaching of newly hired staff during peer coaching. This position also communicates with the Training and Development Manager on the progress of new hired associates and where they are in the peer coaching process. This person will make sure all staff who go through the peer coaching process has a thorough understanding of the job requirements and signs off that they have received training to conduct their role. The field trainer is positioned as an in-home trainer and works remotely in the homes that are assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintain and monitor schedules, edit time cards daily no less than twice weekly, edit and communicate work hours with Training and Development Manager.

  • Assist staff with finding appropriate times to conduct field training.

  • Provide Peer Coaching for new staff, complete and submit peer coaching packets.

  • Preform coaching meetings with new staff in training utilizing SMART goals and Reflection sheets.

  • Provide training, assistance, and support to staff in all areas of daily living as outlined in the client’s POC (Plan of Care), IISP (Individual Instruction and Support Plan), BSP (Behavior Support Plan), and therapist approved treatment plan.

  • Supervise clients to ensure adequate safety.

  • Ensure adequate health care for each client.

  • Implement and evaluate individualized programs for clients.

  • Maintain client and staff confidentially.

  • Maintain appropriate staff/client relationships.

  • Acknowledge the needs, wants, and rights of clients with dignity and respect.

  • Complete all forms, reports, and data sheets as required by the administrator.

  • Safeguard all company and client property.

  • Be aware and abide by all agency policies, procedures, and practices.

  • Report promptly instances of injuries, behaviors, abuse, and safety hazards, etc. to the administrator.

  • Maintain an ongoing inventory of client’s personal property.

  • Keep all hazardous materials, medications, etc. in the designated locked location.

  • Perform other responsibilities as defined by the administrator.

  • Report to work on time.

  • While on duty staff is not allowed to partake of or have any illegal drugs, recreational drugs or alcohol.

  • Staff must be awake and alert while on duty.

  • Oversee the implementation and documentation of medications.

  • Implement a safe and clean environment in which our clients live by doing households ADLS (i.e., chores, meals, bathing, hygiene, removal of garbage, laundry, etc.)

  • Perform other responsibilities

 
Position Requirements

Education and Experience

  • Minimum age of 18 years.

  • Current criminal background check, cleared by DSHS before working alone, unsupervised with new hires.

  • Valid driver’s license or Washington State ID.

  • Home telephone or Cell phone.

  • High school graduate or equivalent.

  • Ability to follow instructions organizes and set priorities, and the ability to work well with other staff and clients, exhibit job-related competency and ability to make independent judgment.

  • Ability to supervise new hire associates and provide on the job training and complete peer coaching packets within two weeks of Orientation and Safety Training.

  • Must have a minimum of one year experience working with developmentally disabled adults.

  • Advanced knowledge of multiple plans specific to client for more complex client care and behavioral needs.

  • Additional training specific to client complex care and behavioral needs.

  • Advanced experience supporting developmentally disabled adults.

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations

  • Preferred: The Buzz Peer Coaching Certificate

  • Preferred: Current CPR / First Aid Certificate

  • Preferred: Current Bloodborne Pathogens Certificate

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Language Skills: Excellent reading comprehension and written communication skills required. For example: ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, reports, technical specifications, governmental regulations, and correspondence. Ability to apply proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, and format to communications. Ability to present information in one-on-one, small group, and large group situations to management and staff.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference; ability to compute discount, interest, profit, loss, ratios and percentages; and ability to draw and interpret graphs.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve a wide range of practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete and complex variables; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form; and ability to deal with multiple variables.

Computer Skills: Ability to operate related computer applications (i.e. word processing and spreadsheet applications), and business equipment including personal computer, copy machine, fax machine, and telephone.

Physical Demands

Talking: Able to convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.

Average Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.

Finger Dexterity: Using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.

Repetitive Motion: Movements frequently and regularly required using the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.

Average Visual Abilities: Average, ordinary visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or products, or operate machinery.

Physical Strength: Frequently required to sit, stand, and walk and occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 20 lbs.

Your Work Place

Externally, work is normally performed in a home setting, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, and fumes are very limited. Noise level is moderate and may include sounds of normal house hold equipment (furnaces, telephones, etc.). No known environmental hazards are encountered in the normal performance of job duties.
