Description

The Digital Design & Marketing Manager will work closely with the Marketing & Annual Fund Director and the development and marketing team on ad and fundraising campaigns, digital assets, promotional materials and collateral. S/he will create stunning visual assets that elevate the Second Harvest brand and reflect your personal knowledge and passion for design trends combined with your desire for social justice. S/he will work with all departments throughout the food bank to build visually appealing collateral to advance our organizational mission and vision.

 

Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize, design and deliver creatives for a variety of digital and print channels, including marketing, events, social media and email.
  • Coordinate closely with Development and Marketing team, as well as other Food Bank teams to deliver visual assets for programs, events and outreach.
  • Help to maintain website and social media presence.
  • Create copy for digital and print newsletters, including donor, sponsor, and partner stories.
  • Design assets for blogs, case studies, email and social media.
  • Support Development & Marketing team across various branding and outreach efforts.

Job Details: This is a full-time, regular, non-exempt position with an hourly rate of $22 - 27, DOE. Hours are most commonly Monday-Friday, however, occasional weekend and evening work may be required.

Position Requirements

Education, Training & Experience

A thoughtfully presented portfolio showing the ability to think conceptually and strategically. A BA/BS degree in graphic design, media arts, illustration, or related field; OR equivalent experience. Mastery of basic design principles and tools like the adobe creative suite of products including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, or equivalent. Ability to grasp multiple design requirements with careful attention to detail.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong sense of time management and organization.
  • Strong sensibilities and understanding of typography, layout, color theory, command of design principles, and printing process.
  • Proficient in Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator and video editing software.
  • Experience with creating mobile, video and printed media.
  • Excellent writing skills; including spelling, punctuation and formatting.
  • Accomplished user of Microsoft Office applications (e.g., MS Excel, MS Word and Outlook).
  • An appreciation of brand guidelines and a passion for design perfection.
  • Communicates effectively and respectfully with people from different racial, ethnic and cultural groups and/or different backgrounds and lifestyles; demonstrate a knowledge of and sensitivity to their needs.
  • Skilled in Wordpress website development and maintenance preferred.
  • Spanish language proficiency is a bonus.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Must have access to a motor vehicle, as well as valid auto insurance coverage, for occasional driving on the job.
  • Must have valid California Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record, as documented by a current MVR (will be obtained by the Food Bank’s insurance carrier).
  • It is the responsibility of all SHFB personnel to participate in our Food Safety/Food Defense programs.
  • In instances of a federal, state or locally declared emergency, Second Harvest is typically considered an essential service and emergency responder; all of its employees may be called in to perform regular or emergent duties.
 
Pay Range 22 - 27 hourly, DOE
