Koniag Government Services is looking for a Systems Administrator (Windows) in Fort Collins, CO. Pursuant to PL 93-638, as amended, Preference will be given to qualified applicants who are a member of a Federally Recognized Native American Tribe.

The Systems Administrator (Windows) will provide IT Support for the Department of Interior’s 24/7/365 data center environment.  Applicant must possess superior knowledge and demonstrated technical proficiency in Microsoft Windows Server 2008, 2012, and 2016 as well as expert knowledge of other Microsoft Products used to manage an enterprise operation. The successful candidate must have a strong background with TCP/IP networks, including the use of troubleshooting tools, scripting (PowerShell), resources kit and diagnostic tools.  Ability to develop and maintain documentation, manage and initiate project work and be able to work independently and in a team environment. Support would include (but not limited to): backup and recovery of systems, patching of systems, providing Tier II/III support to lower tiers, performance tuning, hardware upgrades, operational configurations, resource optimization, etc.

  • Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other related areas, this includes troubleshooting those products at the expert level in an enterprise environment
  • Monitor server performance and availability
  • Ensure Windows server availability and compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLA).  Manage and respond to IT requests via Trouble Ticket System in accordance with these customer SLA requirements
  • Address/troubleshoot operational systems issues including file and share permissions, user accounts and installing applications
  • Install, upgrade, patch, and maintain Windows Servers utilizing management/deployment tools
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical problems and provide on-call support.  Perform research for problems, define solutions, and coordinate implementation of solutions with staff and customers
  • Assist security staff in conducting internal system reviews and audits in accordance with defined policy/procedures. Ensure system/component settings remain in order, as specified by security guidelines and STIGS.  Provide applicable documents as resolution of security findings
  • Manage and maintain IT system changes via the Change Control System in accordance with the organization’s Change Management Policies and Procedures
  • Collaborate with team members to solve problems; this includes working with other application teams to provide assistance troubleshooting issues and with problem resolution
  • Able to perform Security procedures (change service account passwords, validate security software functionality and consistency across all the servers, etc.)
  • Have the ability to work on servers in a large scale environment and have some knowledge of scripting to assist administration
  • Assist in planning and coordinating for new Active Directory Forest builds, to include Forest/Domain requirements for Domain Controllers and support servers
  • Has the ability to take a task or project and work independently with minimal guidance


Position Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Expert level experience with Microsoft Windows 2008, 2012, and 2016
  • Extensive experience with Hyper-V
  • Occasional weekend and after hours on-call work required
  • Experience with Active Directory
  • Large Enterprise experience

Desirable Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Microsoft Certifications (MCSA, MCSE) highly preferred
  • Experience with DNS, DCHP
  • Experience with Group Policy, AGPM
  • Experience with SCCM and SCOM
  • Change Controlled environment experience
  • Experience with scripting (PowerShell) and automation tools
  • Some experience and understanding with VMWare
  • Converged or Hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) experience

Working Environment & Conditions

This position is primarily indoors, consistent with a standard office position and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate. The incumbent is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to manipulate, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. The work load may require the incumbent to sit for extended periods of time. The incumbent must be able to read, perform simple math calculations and withstand moderate amounts of stress. The incumbent must occasionally lift and/or move items that weigh up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required for the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
