Share Email Opening Title Certified Mental Health Screener- Careplus NJ  Description Key Responsibilities: Conducts clinical mental health evaluation and assessment to determine the need for hospitalization, either voluntary or involuntary Initiates clinical consultation and case reviews with appropriate mental health providers to determine appropriate treatment planning Answers the 24 hours crisis hotline, providing verbal de-escalation, telephonic triage, consultation, information, and referral Provides crisis intervention counseling and concise psychotherapy that seeks to stabilize a psychiatric crisis when hospitalization is deemed not appropriate, including referral and linkage to self-help and community resource information, outpatient mental health treatment, and advocacy for appropriate treatment and services Develops recovery plans based on individual client needs in collaboration and consultation with all referral sources/providers and family and natural support systems Provides consultation, training and technical assistance to other clinical staff in the Screening Center and in the community which includes collaborating with Psychiatrists, Social Workers and Nursing Staff in the Screening Center and other area Medical Centers in Bergen County Supervising and monitoring clients who are in the Screening Center during the evaluation process Clinical evaluation of clients who may be in need of commitment and completion necessary documentation Conducts Bed Searches for involuntary patients Determining whether the consumer has executed an Advance Directive for Mental Health Care   Position Requirements Qualifications: Possess either a MSW or MA in related field plus one year post master, fulltime employment, in mental health OR Possess a BA plus 3 years fulltime employment in mental health post BA, one of which must be in a crisis setting (approved crisis settings are: designated screening centers, affiliated emergency services, psychiatric inpatient units, children’s mobile response, licensed crisis facilities, Family Crisis Intervention Unit or Early Intervention Support Services) OR Possess a BA enrolled in MA program, plus two years, fulltime employment in mental health, one of which must be in a crisis setting (approved crisis settings are: designated screening centers, affiliated emergency services, psychiatric inpatient units, children’s mobile response, licensed crisis facilities, Family Crisis Intervention Unit or Early Intervention Support Services). Possess excellent computer skills.
