POSITION SUMMARY: BASIC FUNCTION

The Sustainability Director will address the organizations approach to environmental responsibility with the goal to minimize the company’s environmental impact. This position analyzes and predicts the present and future practice and watches over the environmental impact on NTT GDC Americas practices. The Sustainability Director also has an awareness of and adheres to the needs of profitability alongside of ecological performance, and carbon footprint reduction while preserving productivity.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees the overall execution, mission, and efficacy of the sustainability program.
  • Assesses and analyzes company policies and processes to identify areas in and process to which improvements can be made in accordance with NTT GDC Americas commitment to sustainability.
  • Brainstorms and identifies creative ways in which the company can balance business obligations with the goal of respecting, supporting, and improving the local and global environments.
  • Proposes and implements strategies to address various environmental concerns including energy use, conservation, reduction of pollution, recycling, building and facility design, and general education on sustainability.
  • Drafts and implements sustainable organizational policies that address environmental concerns.
  • Evaluates efficacy of sustainability programs; recommends and implements improvements, as necessary.
  • Conducts research to identify environmental and sustainability concerns, interests, and issues.
  • In partnership with relevant departments, regularly evaluates the condition of the facilities and develops short and long-range maintenance programs which protects NTT GDC Americas investment in physical assets.
  • Considers sustainability proposals with attention to factors such as cost effectiveness, feasibility, and ease of integration with other programs.
  • Drafts and prepares reports, presentations, and proposals; presents proposals and recommendations to key stakeholders.
  • Develops and maintains appropriate documentation and records including budgets and other financials.
  • Maintains current working knowledge of, and ensures compliance with, all applicable local, state, federal, and internal environmental laws, and regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Exceptional and creative problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Thorough and current knowledge of sustainability practices, and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Expert knowledge of energy management within the critical facility environment.
  • Ability to analyze and understand research and to identify relevant and valuable information.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to create, interpret, and execute a budget.
  • Presentation skills required to deliver proposals to varying groups of individuals.
  • Able to be highly confidential.
  • Extremely proficient with computers to include the utilization of Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook or related software.
  • Able to work in a team environment.
  • Manages stress and/or fast pace effectively.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Studies required, Master’s Degree such as Sustainability and Compliance or Environmental Economics preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience in energy and sustainability in a critical facility environment.
  • ISSP-CSP or CEM certification required.

 

 

 
Position Requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Primarily sitting with some walking, standing, and bending.
  • Able to hear and speak into a telephone.
  • Close visual work on a computer terminal.
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate any required computer keyboard, mouse, and other technical instruments.
  • Able to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Able to climb a ladder and work on a raised platform.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • This role is expected to be remote with an occasional need to be on-site in a shared space

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Possibility of up to 30% travel.
  • Must possess a current, valid state-issued driver’s license.
