Description

SUMMARY:

The Human Resources Generalist will support the day-to-day HR operations of the facility. The HR Generalist assists the HR Manager in the administration of the human resources policies, procedures and programs. The HR Generalist carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: departmental development, Human Resource Information Systems (HRIS), employee relations, training and development, benefits, compensation, and employment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides human resource support and relevant advice to the cross functional departments on HR matters including recruitment, employee relations, benefits, compensation, performance management and employee training & development
  • Partners with HR Manager and team to support manufacturing facility and/or corporate goals
  • Works with HR management and corporate HR in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.  Performs investigations of employee relations issues.
  • Maintains Human Resource Information System records and compiles reports from database
  • Assists with administering local payroll hours for submission to corporate. Previews for accuracy before submitting for final processing
  • Manages production hourly performance review process
  • Maintains affirmative action programs; maintains other records, reports and logs to conform to EEO regulations
  • Supports and coaches all supervisors in the administration of work rules, policies and practices
  • Assists with local recruitment efforts to ensure optimal staffing – Works with local temporary staffing agencies
  • Conducts new-employee orientation ensuring newly hired employees are on boarded and trained to successfully perform their jobs in a safe manner
  • Ensures performance management processes are effectively used by managers to grow and develop their employees
  • Oversees employee committee teams (Wellness & Communications)
  • Maintains compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment
  • Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Adheres to all quality and safety standards
  • Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administers 401k reporting process
  • Tracks and manages the Affirmative Action Plan (AAP) data and information and submits required reporting
  • Executes proactive and positive employee relations that maintain workforce stability and ensures a highly engaged work environment
  • Conducts HR related training and development programs
  • Participates in Corporate HR staff meetings and other business related meetings such as safety teams
  • Performs other related Human Resource Generalist duties as required and assigned.
  • May participate in cross-functional team and work groups

 

 
Position Requirements

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience; SHRM-CP and/or PHR certification preferred, or desire to obtain certification(s).

WORK EXPERIENCE: Minimum of six to eight years of human resource experience; Manufacturing experience strongly preferred.

EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to speak, read and understand English
  • HR experience in a manufacturing facility
  • Demonstrated ability to identity and implement employee training and development programs
  • Ability to use HR and payroll related computer programs and software
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and exercise discretion when managing sensitive employee information
  • Ability to manage multiple projects with superior attention to detail, accuracy, timeliness, and ability to meet deadlines
  • Shows initiative and independent thinking; Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work a varied schedule, willing to work overtime when necessary
  • Possesses quality orientation and high attention to detail
  • Possesses strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with customers, vendors, employees and managers at all levels within the company
  • Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office)
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel experience strongly preferred
