Share Email Opening Title Security Officer Part-Time, Academy Museum  Description The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures furthers the understanding, celebration, and preservation of cinema through inclusive and accessible exhibitions, screenings, programs, and collections. Welcoming visitors from Los Angeles and around the world, the Museum works in active partnership with motion picture artists and specialists, scholars, staff, and diverse communities to contextualize and challenge dominant narratives around cinema, inspiring discourse, connection, joy, and discovery. This position is part-time and reports to the Assistant Manager of Security and is an outstanding opportunity for you to join the operations team. You will be assigned to work within the museum building at an interior and exterior area, theater, lobby, gallery, indoor space near elevator or escalators or on top of our outdoor terrace area. You should be available to work a variable schedule to include weekends and holidays. You Will: Have a regular or special posts; assignments may change daily and without notice. Maintain high visibility while on assignment. Act professionally and have a welcoming presence. Patrol assigned areas on foot, conduct security tours assisted by electronic device as assigned to ensure personnel, visitors, building, and exhibitions security. Greet visitors, provide information, direction and other assistance to provide a positive visitor experience. Stand for long periods of time (up to 6 hours per shift). Ensure that all business appointments are verified and that staff members are contacted upon arrival of guests. Assist visitors and staff in event of an emergency to safe evacuation from the building. Watch for and report suspicious activity, security breaches, facility and safety hazards, and emergency situations. Prepare routine, standardized reports and notifications to security management. Participate in daily roll call and training. Work with people from diverse backgrounds and ensure that all feel welcome. Be availble to work a part-time shift      Position Requirements You Have: 1+ years of experience as a security officer with a museum, event or public performance venue, or similar institution. Experience working with general public. Experience working in a business or employee entrance lobby. Experience issuing staff or visitor ID badges and maintaining a daily accountability log. Familiarity evacuation building and emergency response.
