Summary of Job Duties :
Assess patient health problems and needs, develop and implement nursing care plans, and maintain medical records. Administer nursing care to ill, injured, patients within the workplace. Educate and counsel patients on their health conditions and utilize evidence based practice. Collaborate with on-site OHN for health promotion activities and programs, and complete presentations to site staff on health-related topics. RNs are expected to practice within their professional practice standards associated with the Health Professions Act, Nursing Practice Standards, Health Information Act, Personal Information Protection Act, Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act, Workers Compensation Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act and other pertinent legislation, standards and codes.
Must have valid RN license with CARNA. Must have certification in ACLS and valid BLS. Must have Common Safety Orientation.
Key Responsibilities:
• Primary assessment, treatment, follow up and referral for medical care and emergent care associated with occupational and non- occupational injuries and illness which may be life threatening.
• Plans and implements health promotion initiatives on site including heart health, influenza immunization and mental health.
• Perform competent nursing care within scope of practice identified by CARNA standards.
• Maintain accurate, detailed reports and patient records.
• Consult and coordinate with health care team members on site and on-call Medical Director to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care plans.
• Conduct specified tests - Alcohol / Drug testing and Mask Fit Testing in accordance to site policy.
• Maintains appropriate infection control practice within the clinic environment.
• Participates in educational development and the development of clinic policy and procedures.
Required Qualifications/Education
• Registered Nurse in good standing with CARNA.
• Bachelor Degree in Nursing from a recognized University (an asset however, a combination of skills and education will be considered).
• BLS
• ACLS required
• ITLS (an asset)
• CSO
• H2S Alive
Experience:
•1-3 years' experience preferred
• Experience with MS Office Suite.
• Understanding of Cority or other electronic charting is an asset.
• Experience presenting health information to large groups is an asset.
• Experience with health promotion program development is an asset.
Working Conditions:
• Remote oilfield clinic
• Work schedule 12 hour day shifts; 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off.
• Bending and lifting < 20lbs required.
• May be required to be on-call dependent on the medical situation.
