JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Human Resources Generalist

TEAM: Human Resources

BASIC FUNCTION:

Under the direction of, and reporting to the Director of HR, OD & Safety, the Human Resources Generalist plans and administers policies relating to employee relations, recruiting, wage and salary administration, employee welfare, benefits community relations, and related personnel functions.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Assist with the development of performance improvement plans.
  2. Work closely with the Sr. Organizational Development Coordinator on the design and development of a performance management philosophy and process.
  3. This role will work with the Safety Manager and Sr. ODC to complete the implementation of the safety trainings into the LMS.
  4. Assist in the design and development of the monthly safety awareness trainings and the foundational platform to building a Behavior Based Safety Model.
  5. Assist the Sr ODC with the communication of events and coordination when necessary.
  6. Work closely with the Sr. Human Resources Generalist on recruitment, employee relations, benefits and compensation analysis.
  7. Assist with benefits open enrollment process.
  8. Partner with the Sr. ODC & Sr. HG to provide support and assistance on employee relations issues.
  9. Assist the Sr. Organizational Development Coordinator on the implementation of Leadership Development and succession planning model.
  10. Assist Sr. Human Resources Generalist with KSA job audits to match compensation with skill set and position to market.
  11. 10% of the time should be spent on the floor touching all shifts interacting with employees both through huddles and weekly employee check ins (tenured and new).
  12. 10% of the time meeting with respective managers to understand challenges with employee issues, attendance, disciplines, and strategizing with the team on how to foster a culture of dignity and respect. Using feedback from new hires and feedback from tenured staff to help guide those conversations.
  13. Works closely with the Marketing Coordinator to organize and communicate company-wide events.
  14. Work with the marketing coordinator on recommending and leading company events in lieu of in-person events. This would include employee appreciation centered around values launch of PRAISE.
  15. Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  16. Work closely with the Safety Manager to design, develop and launch a full cycle safety learning program focused on Behavior Based Safety.
  17. Ability to work autonomously in ambiguous situations and adapt quickly to change, as well as guide varying levels of the organization through change.
  18. Maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality at all times.
  19. Participates and assists in the development of department goals, metrics, objectives, and systems.
  20. Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Position Requirements

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Thorough knowledge of general Human Resource practices, policies and procedures.

Excellent written/verbal communication skills, analytical ability, problem solving skills, initiative and attention to detail.

Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel and Word). Ability to multi-task and manage several projects simultaneously.

Demonstrated ability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all levels of employees in a team-oriented environment.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

3-5 years of related Human Resources experience.
Bachelor’s degree in human resources, management or a related field desired.
