GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Plan, develops, executes and reviews environmental health programs in the following areas: food and food service sanitation, water supply, sewage disposal, swimming pools, rodent and insect control, school and institutions sanitation, solid waste and nuisance condition control; works under the supervision of an Environmental Health Supervisor; performs related duties as required.
STATEMENT OF TASKS
Recommends licensing for institutions inspected and adhering to State Health Codes;
Inspects food establishments, grocery stores, hospitals, nursing homes, schools, day care centers, swimming pools and recreational facilities;
Designs and/or reviews water supply systems, and sewage disposal systems for homes and small commercial buildings;
Issues septic tank permits;
Conducts environmental or sanitary surveys of a routine nature;
Investigates outbreaks of disease due to food or other causes;
Investigates complaints involving water or air pollution, insect or rodent infestation, solid waste disposal and similar public health nuisances and hazards;
Provides assistance to individuals and agencies with environmental health problems;
Maintains records;
Develops reports.
