Summary

The Child Care Assistance (CCAP) Program Specialist helps to support families looking for child care providers and determining child care assistance eligibility. This positions works with the most vulnerable populations offering the best quality customer service to find resources for families elevating families, children, and their community to success. This position is contracted by the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) and heavily monitored for compliance and productivity measuers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Some incumbents may not perform all the duties listed while in other cases related duties may also be assigned.

  • Work with low income families to determine eligibility for child care payment assistance.
  • Provide technical assistance regarding subsidized child care to clients, providers, and the community.
  • Maintain confidentiality of agency, client, and child care provider information.
  • Maintain positive rapport with client and child care provider.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of other social services available to parents and child care providers.
  • Process IDHS and Child Care Resource and Referral reports.
  • Maintain assigned caseload of subsidized child care services for both parents and child care providers as contracted by IDHS.
  • Verify client and child care provider eligibility in assigned caseload.
  • Process applications, approvals, cancellations, denials and redeterminations.
  • Authorize child care payments for child care providers.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records on computerized database system within assigned caseload.
  • Learn and Master IDHS Statewide Childcare Management systems (CCMS)
  • Complete 15 hours of professional development training annually.
