Position Description:

Faculty position with teaching responsibilities for a full range of Utility Technician and Electrical Apprenticeship courses. Instructor will also participate in planning implementation, and evaluation of all courses taught within the area and contribute to ongoing improvement of program curriculums.


Position Requirements

Position Qualifications:

  1. Journeyman Lineman or Utility Lineman certification required.
  2. Associate degree in Electrical/Electronic Technology or equivalent preferred.
  3. Minimum of five years of full-time experience in electrical construction and maintenance required including project management.
  4. Teaching experience in a related occupational education program at the Apprentice, Associate degree, or Secondary level highly desirable.
  5. Teaching experience using computer applications such as online instruction, Blackboard, and etc. highly desirable.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Teach lecture and laboratory in Utility Technology courses and related areas. Teaching load determined by the Faculty Council Master Agreement.
  2. Prepare and distribute course syllabi to students.
  3. Evaluate student progress through examinations, graded homework, quizzes, observations, and laboratory reports.
  4. Develop new courses and update courses within the department including catalog descriptions and course outlines as directed.
  5. Perform all requirements for laboratory exercises (including modification and work processing of laboratory exercises).
  6. Maintain appropriate instructional laboratories and equipment.
  7. Budget for and order supplies and equipment necessary for lecture and laboratory instruction.
  8. Be available for individual student assistance, advising, and/or consultation as required by the Master Agreement.
  9. Participate in committee work at the College.
  10. Advises students of operation procedures and requirements for working safely with electrical/electronic and mechanical equipment and components.
  11. Installs, starts up and shuts down equipment in accordance with College safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown and in line with OSHA requirements.
  12. Utilize college technologies for communication, course management, and assessment.
  13. Participate in program advisory committee activities.
  14. Participate in department curriculum revision and evaluation activities.
  15. Work with College Admissions Office to recruit Utility Technology students.
  16. Assist with job placement efforts for Utility Technology students.
  17. Other duties as assigned by the supervisors.
