Description

The Accreditation Specialist reports to the Director of Quality, Safety and Performance. In collaboration with the Quality, Safety and Performance team, the Accreditation Specialist provides support and guidance to accreditation leaders and teams, coordinates organizational accreditation activities, develops and delivers required education, and raises awareness and understanding of the accreditation process to ensure Holland Bloorview is optimally prepared for the Accreditation Canada on-site survey in fall 2021.

This is a temporary full time contract, expected to be one year in length.

Key Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Quality, Safety and Performance team, the Accreditation Specialist:

  • Leads the development of the one year work plan to identify and track key requirements and activities
  • Monitors completion of activities to ensure identified timelines are met
  • Supports the ongoing activities required of accreditation team leaders and groups
  • Coordinates and chairs accreditation working group meetings as required
  • Prepares and delivers presentations related to accreditation where needed
  • Develops and delivers on-site and off-site accreditation education
  • Prepares required accreditation documents and information
  • Coordinates the set-up and completion of self assessment questionnaires and instruments
  • Assists team leaders in the analysis of accreditation road maps and the management of identified quality improvement initiatives
  • Coordinates and facilitates mock accreditation tracer activities and table top discussions with accreditation teams and staff
  • Works in collaboration with Quality, Safety and Performance and Communication and Public Engagement to implement the communication strategy that includes special events and accreditation awareness activities
  • Aligns communication with key organizational priorities including the No Boundaries Strategic Plan, Caring Safely and the IDEA Taskforce (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility)
  • Raises internal awareness and understanding of accreditation and its alignment with Holland Bloorview’s strategic plan and priorities
  • Networks with accreditation leads at other organizations as appropriate

Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in health care, business, or a related field required
  • Proven track record in project management, including 3-5 years experience in project planning, execution, reporting, monitoring and evaluation
  • Knowledge of Qmentum Accreditation process is preferred
  • Knowledge of quality, risk and patient safety theory and quality improvement methodology
  • Awareness of Holland Bloorview’s clinical and non-clinical programs and services
  • Experience in leading teams and demonstrated team leadership skills, including coaching, teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others
  • Skills in negotiation, facilitation and conflict resolution
  • Effective communicator with strong organizational skills, influencing skills, a client and family centred care orientation and a commitment to providing quality services
  • Ability to successfully engage staff at all levels of an organization
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to meet tight deadlines as required
  • Take initiative, able to work both independently and in collaboration with teams
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills, tailored to a range of audiences
  • Ability to relay or explain information of varying complexity
  • Ability to explain the relevance of accreditation within the context of Holland Bloorview’s Strategic Plan
  • Intermediate computer skills
