What You Would Be Doing

The RN/Nurse Trainer will focus on Medication Administration and Certifications 1,2, & 3 and skills checks for all Boundless staff who require the ability to pass medication on the job. This person may also occasionally be responsible for skilled nursing and other therapeutic services. This person will participate in activities relevant to professional education and services furnished, including the development of qualifications and oversight of personnel.

  • Provides training and oversight on medication administration classes including initial, renewals, medication certification I/II (G-tubes)/III (insulin).
  • Ensures skills checks are completed at the end of each training class and periodically ongoing in the homes and when med errors require.
  • Completes all documentation required for staff to receive and maintain their Medication Certifications as specified by DODD. This includes completing the DODD application before each class and entering individuals into the DODD database after the class.
  • Works with management of each program to establish an ongoing annual training schedule, may assist in facilitation of enrollment of staff with management, updates yearly training calendar for program compliance.
  • Provides documentation to HR after each class for entry into record keeping system for HR compliance.
  • Other duties as assigned
 
Position Requirements

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Registered nurse (RN) with current licensure from the Ohio State Board of Nursing.
  • 3-5 years of nursing and training experience.
  • Certified trainer for Medication Administration and Certifications 1, 2, & 3.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience working with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and other complex needs. 
  • Working knowledge of Medicaid and Licensure rules and regulations related to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and behavioral health.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Occasional lifting, bending, pushing, pulling up to 50lbs if needed for medical intervention.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time 19 hour per week position. Hours contingent upon training needs of the staff. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
