GENERAL DESCRIPTION

 

Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Operations, the Transportation Coordinator is responsible for ensuring that all individuals served are in integrated, dignified and respectful environments and receive necessary supports in order to be active in their chosen environments and communities.  These supports to the individuals will be provided with dignity and respect according to their personal preferences and in accordance with The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region, Inc.’s policies, procedures, mission and philosophy as well as those of the State of Maryland/Federal mandated laws, policies and regulations.

 

The transportation Coordinator’s primary responsibilities include the safe and efficient delivery of transportation services, purchase and maintenance of agency vehicles and supervision of drivers.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

  1. Bachelor’s Degree preferred but will consider equivalent experience
  2. At least three years experience in a supervisory capacity
  3. Three years experience working with commercial or fleet vehicles
  4. Excellent organizational skills
  5. Computer literate
  6. Communicate effectively orally and in writing
  7. Ability to meet deadlines and handle stressful situations without loss of efficiency and composure.
  8. Ability to analyze situations, develop creative solutions and act quickly and calmly in a crisis.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Access to reliable transportation
  2. Valid Maryland Driver’s license with no more than two points.
  3. Some sitting with frequent walking, standing, pushing, pulling, bending and driving.
  4. Ability to lift 50lbs.
  5. Maintenance of current and valid CPR/First Aid certifications.
  6. Maintenance of current and valid CMT certification.
  7. Maintenance of all required training requirements under DDA guidelines and The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region, Inc. policies.
  8. Flexibility of scheduling to meet agency and program needs.

 

 

JOB SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  8. Ensures confidentiality as required by law and The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region, Inc. policies and procedures.
  9. Attends, completes and demonstrates competency in all applicable The Arc Northern Chesapeake Region, Inc. training.
  10. Completes, maintains and submits required reports and documentation in a timely manner.
  11. Develops a relationship with the individuals served that is respectful, based on mutual trust and that maintains professional boundaries.
  12. Takes responsibility for safety hazards in all areas including but is not limited to programs, places of employment and vehicles.
  13. Assures staff members under his/her supervision are meeting agency, state and federal regulations for required in-service training and certifications.
  14. Works effectively and cooperatively with the Human Resources department to ensure agency personnel policies and procedures are followed and takes necessary disciplinary action to ensure staff members are held accountable to those policies.
  15. Works effectively and cooperatively with the Finance Department to ensure agency policies and procedures are followed and budgetary goals are met related to the financial responsibilities of the transportation department.
  16. Provides monthly supervision and annual evaluation of Drivers’ performance.
  17. Ensures completion of documentation and duties of transportation team members.
  18. Resolve daily transportation service issues and emergencies in a timely and effective manner.
  19. Coordinates route development and changes in a timely, efficient and accurate manner.
  20. Manages vehicle maintenance and upkeep to ensure safety and efficiency.
  21. Coordinates the purchase of vehicles as assigned.
  22. Provides coverage driving routes as needed to achieve agency goals.
  23. Other duties as assigned.
