What You Would Be Doing
The IT Director’s role is to ensure the streamlined operation of the IT department in alignment with the business objectives of the organization. The IT Director will plan, coordinate, direct, and design IT-related activities of the organization, as well as provide administrative direction and support for daily operational activities of the IT department. The IT Director will participate in the Boundless Leadership Team and will engage all Boundless departments to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization. The IT Director will also define and implement IT procedures and best practices.

  • Lead the IT department’s operational planning, including fostering innovation, planning projects, and organizing and negotiating the allocation of resources.
  • Manage the deployment, monitoring, maintenance, development, upgrade and support of all IT systems, including telecommunications, website, network, servers, PCs, operating systems, hardware, software, peripherals, and office automation equipment.
  • Benchmark, analyze, report on, and make recommendations for the improvement and growth of the IT infrastructure and IT systems.
  • Ensure that the enterprise's IT environment is secure and incorporates industry good practices and standard frameworks (such as NIST, ITIL, Lean Six Sigma, etc.) as appropriate for the organization.
  • Provide IT and security expertise as Boundless expands its services to incorporate Internet of Things devices.
  • Oversee network stability, collection, and analysis of network and memory utilization and installation/testing of software upgrades.
  • Oversee provision of end-user services, including help desk critical incident support, technical support, root cause analysis, and timely service restoration and execution of preventive and corrective actions.
  • Work with stakeholders to define business and systems requirements for new technology implementations.
  • Keep current with the latest technologies.
  • Work with organizational leadership to develop, manage, and maintain the IT budget.
  • Develop requests for proposals, business case justifications, and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives.
  • Approve and oversee projects.
  • Oversee the development and periodic testing of the organization's disaster recovery and business continuity plans for technology systems.
  • Develop and implement all IT procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, back-up, storage, standards, purchasing, and service provision.
  • Manage vendor, outsourcer and consultant contracts and service agreements, and hold vendors accountable to meet their obligations
  • Implement and manage a technology asset inventory system for IT hardware, software, and equipment.
  • Manage IT staffing, including recruitment, supervision of managers and individual contributors, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions, to build a high-performing, highly engaged team of IT professionals.
  • Establish and maintain regular written and in-person communications with the organization’s directors, managers, and end-users regarding pertinent IT activities.
 
Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • 5 to 10 years of experience in IT management
  • 5 to 10 years of broad experience with IT systems, applications, and infrastructure, designing/developing IT systems, and planning IT implementations
  • Five to 10 years of progressive experience with the most current technologies and products
  • Experience building and leading high-performing and diverse technology teams and leaders
  • Vendor negotiation and management
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with teammates, management, clients, vendors, and subcontractors
  • Self-motivated with strong analytical, planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Forward-thinker with attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, systems engineering, or related field of study
  • Prior experience as department director
  • Prior experience in healthcare, particularly in the field of IDD

Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

Licensure/Certification

Professional certification preferred in one or more relevant areas (CISSP, ITIL, CGEIT, Lean/Six Sigma, PMP, etc.)
