The Learning Programs Revenue Manager will oversee and revise an established camp program and drive the development and implementation of a comprehensive revenue strategy and a suite of programs and experiences at the zoo, in the community and through digital and distance learning platforms to generate sustained revenue to support Woodland Parks Zoo’s mission and operations.
What you’ll do:
- Manage and oversee the development and implementation of fee-based programs and experiences for audiences of all ages in collaboration with other department managers. Programs may include but are not limited to: camps, classes, corporate team building, and tours on and off grounds or through online platforms.
- Oversee registration processes, procedures, and staff to provide efficient and exceptional customer service. Work with other departments to refine and update registration/point of sale software platform (currently EBMS).
- Analyze existing resources and look for opportunities to monetize content expertise and engagements.
- Collaborate with marketing, creative, and content departments on brand, advertising, and promotional materials for programs/events. Oversee development and distribution of promotional materials, blogs, reports, statistics, flyers, publications, communications/interpretive materials, and other promotional and support materials.
- Participate in zoo revenue and pricing working groups and support department program supervisor(s)/manager(s) with business plans, marketing, and pricing models.
- Stay informed of new trends and research in behavior change, guest engagement, and universal design and inclusion practices.
- Under the direction of department leadership, work with the development department to write grant proposals and reports; participate in fund-raising and donor cultivation efforts.
- Ensure smooth, effective operations and programs to meet strategic plan goals.
- Actively support and assist with department strategic planning, professional development, budget planning, and work program planning to support mission-driven change. Develop and manage program budgets, expenses, and reports.
- Develop and implement comprehensive evaluations plans in consultation with Audience Research staff. Use data for continual improvement of programs and processes.
- Manage staff, including recruiting and hiring, develop work plans, conduct evaluations, address disciplinary concerns, and effectively train, develop, mentor and coach employees. Carry out supervisor responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and all applicable laws.
- Represent the zoo at internal/external meetings and conferences that serve to strengthen the zoo’s position as a leading conservation education organization locally and nationally.
- Perform other duties or projects as assigned.
Who we’re looking for:
- You have at least six (6) years of related experience and a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- You have an entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to identify and implement creative and dynamic earned and contributed revenue opportunities, which connect participants to the zoo’s mission.
- You’re organized, able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, agendas, and projects and adapt to changing needs. You’re able to anticipate needs and challenges, take initiative, ask questions, and provide solutions to achieve department and organization objectives.
- You communicate with guests, zoo staff, external partners, and other stakeholders in a courteous and professional manner. You’re comfortable working with the public including diverse populations and people of all ages and abilities.
- You have successfully lead a team and you have the ability to establish strong working relationships and partnerships internally and externally, and work effectively with others. You are understanding of and sensitive to public and private partnerships.
- You’re an active listener and you give as well as receive feedback in a productive and professional manner. You respond appropriately to conflict.
- You evaluate problems and effectively solve them in a timely manner.
- You respond to concerns with empathy and inclusivity.
- You have excellent verbal and written communication skills and can respond to common inquires or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- You’re comfortable presenting information to zoo management, public groups, donors, and board members.
- You’re able to work with customized databases and technology, conduct internet research, and you’re proficient in Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook).
- You can work a flexible schedule, which may include some evenings and/or weekends.
- You’re committed to the mission of the zoo and Core Values.
Ideally, you’ll also have a WA state driver’s license and the ability to speak a language in addition to English.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to perform essential functions.
- Frequently lift or move up to 35 pounds.
- Regular exposure to a typical office environment and occasionally exposed to outdoor weather conditions and noise from guests. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
- During COVID-19, there may be a combination of remote work and onsite work.
Pay: $60k-70k per year, based on experience.
