About the Organization Agency Description: Asian Americans Advancing Justice - Los Angeles is the nation’s largest Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) legal and civil rights organization and serves more than 15,000 individuals and organizations every year. Description

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Health Access Project Program Director, the Program Manager will have primary responsibilities to lead HAP program support and advocacy/policy works, and collaborative HJN partnership network engagement and relationship development, and also demonstrate conjunctive roles in grant management to assure regulatory compliance, best practices, guidelines, accountabilities, implementation process to close out. The program manager will also provide administrative and communication support to HAP department, and acquire functional roles to support HAP staff and other HAP works in conjunction with oral and behavioral health work with AANHPI communities and collaborative partners through the AANHPI Oral Health Alliance networks and Behavioral Health Workgroups.

Duties and Responsibilities:

40% Under general supervision of Project Director, design and implement program support and grant management:

  • Provide conjunctive responsibilities for active grant programs, including assisting with proposal and workplan draft for new grants, reviewing MOUs for subcontractors and related tasks, working on budgetary issues and acquisitions.
  • Develop long-term workplans that incorporate community needs, Advancing Justice | LA goals, grant deliverables incorporating innovation and community leadership opportunities;
  • Strategize with community members, institutional representatives, agency staff to assess community needs and gaps in services falling under grant guidelines
  • Lead planning team coordinating logistics and timeline in service delivery and,
  • Conduct on-going assessment of community needs through formal and informal evaluation methods

40% Under general supervision of Project Director, lead oversight of advocacy/policy works

  • Engage in advocacy/policy works through participation in community coalitions, steering committees, other collaborative efforts; coalitional HJN members; coordinate campaign strategies with the Advancing Justice - LA.
  • Provide general support to HJN partners, including facilitating periodic monthly HJN partner meetings and providing guidance and support to plan and implement HJN activities.

10% Under general supervision of Project Director, elevate programmatic profile

  • Design and create community involvement plan engaging community leaders, media, community partners and collaborating institutions;
  • Engage in public speaking forums involving media, townhalls, webinars and other communications tools and,
  • Network and collaborate as appropriate with other CBOs, FBOs, and AJLA staff from other units

10% Administration

  • Plan, track, write and submit grant compliance reports in accordance with grant-makers guidelines;
  • Work with the Finance Department on program budgeting and monitoring and,
  • Develop and maintain systems for documenting and cataloging program work

All other duties as assigned and adjusted to current demands and priorities.

 

 
Position Requirements

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of experience (relevant graduate degree a plus)
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience working on health care programs, project management, presentations, compliance, and reporting

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong organizational skills, with strong attention to detail and task oriented
  • Familiarity with Covered California and/or publicly funded programs, including Medi-Cal and local safety net programs and knowledge of, and interest in, health-related issues, including health care reform, health equity and disparities, and the landscape of the health care system
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge and experience working with diverse communities and coalitions, especially AANHPI communities, in California
  • Strong commitment to social justice
  • Must be creative, self-directed, motivated, organized, comfortable working independently and have the ability to initiate and coordinate projects in a timely manner;
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends;
  • Access to reliable means of transportation is a must
  • Design experience, including familiarity with Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator, and other software programs a plus
  • Strong computer, word processing, and database skills and familiarity and experience with Microsoft Office Suit products
  • Bilingual ability in an Asian American or Pacific Islander language desirable

Pay Range $52,000 - $55,000 per year DOE
