The ideal candidate will support the Littoral Combat Ships (LCS) program. LCS is an in-service ship program with new ships in construction. LCS delivers capabilities across multiple mission areas and the ability to operate flexibly in the littorals, employing manned and unmanned systems. 

We are seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to join our team in Washington , DC. The ideal candidate will:

  • Research, plan, budget, maintain, conduct, and execute technical support for LCS Ships.   
  • Provide Total Ship Systems Engineering to include the introduction, development and fielding of LCS in the areas of Ship Design/Hull, Mechanical and Electrical, Aviation Integration and Mission Package Integration.
  • Provide assistance in the Government's monitoring and analyzing of the development of LCS ship design with industry and assisting in performing technical evaluations by providing advice to the Government on risk areas, required changes, certification impacts, lifecycle impacts, or other systems engineering challenges.
  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), working groups, industry design meetings, and production reviews. 
  • Support the technical design approval and production introduction of each LCS SeaFrame's technical baseline. 
  • Provide technical assessment of overall HM&E system risks and assisting in development of risk mitigation plans perform risk analysis of proposed design baseline modifications.
  • Review each Ship’s design drawings, engineering change notices, ship specifications, Contract Data Requirements List (CDRLs), deliverables and verify equipment installations and drawings are in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Provide technical analyses and services for LCS ship design for HM&E systems issues including Aviation IPTs and certifications and Machinery Control Systems including evaluating and advising the Government of risk areas and opportunities for risk reduction.
  • Support the Software Baseline Manager with baseline tracking and oversight for the Machinery Controls Systems (MPCMS, ECS) in an integration role between government activities and industry partners.  
  • Support the development of design solutions for production challenges.
  • Assist in coordinating the resolution of discrepancies.
  • Maintain the LCS Systems Engineering Plan (SEP), covering LCS efforts.
  • Assist in the Government's preparation of SOW and coordination of pricing and scheduling and monitoring the execution of Contractor Special Studies related to design/systems engineering. 
  • Provide technical analyses and services for response to the LCS Prospective Commanding Officer (PCO) Concerns Letters.
  • Support the review and validation of LCS CDRL submittals and correspondence assigned to the Technical Director.
  • Provide support of LCS transition and turnover book development at each LCS OWLD.
  • Support Production Department on-site Trial Card Management lead during ship trials in support of Builders Trial (BT), Acceptance Trial (AT) and Final Contract Trial (FCT). 
  • Assist in developing/evaluating plans, procedures, and processes as they relate to the ship design elements of LCS. 
  • Provide Science and Technology support. 
  • Provide Environmental Safety and Occupational Health (ESOH) support. 
 
Position Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor's or Advanced Degree in any technical or managerial discipline from an accredited institution. 
  • 10 years of relevant experience in Logistics and Configuration Management 
  • 5 years of  supervisory and management experience
  • DoD/Navy ACAT I Program experience 
  • Recent DoD / Navy Contracts experience 
  • Strong knowledge of DoD 5000.02  
  • Active DOD Secret Clearance or higher

Desired:

  • Significant experience in U.S. Navy / NAVSEA programs 
  • Direct experience with the LCS program a real plus.
