Network Engineer

The Network Engineer is responsible for the implementation, maintenance, and support of the corporate LAN, WAN, SAN and Wireless architecture. This individual is also responsible for the administration of network security hardware and software, enforcing the network security policy and complying with requirements of internal and external security audits and recommendations.

  • Daily administration and oversight of the Juniper Switching network.

  • Responsible for the management and maintenance of the companies Storage Area Networks.

  • Responsible for the management of all networking equipment including Wireless, Proxy, and firewalls.

  • Develops and communicates standards for use, operations, and security of network.

  • Performs analysis of network security needs and contributes to design, integrations, and installation of hardware and software.

  • Analyzes, troubleshoots, and corrects network problems remotely and on site.

  • Supports and maintains remote connectivity solutions including IPSec VPN, PPTP, and SSL VPN.

  • Ensures a superior level of user service and satisfaction is achieved and maintained throughout the property.

  • Maintains a thorough working knowledge of software applications on the network operating system, in order to provide technical support and guidance, as needed.

  • Monitors security system logs (i.e. intrusions detection system, firewall system logs, etc.) and reports on discovered anomalies or problems on a weekly basis

  • Uses sniffers and other tools to troubleshoot and isolate network problems.

  • Act as liaison with third-party support, Windows-based and/or peripheral hardware equipment vendor(s).

  • Documents technical procedures for the Information Technology Department.

  • Held accountable, to a high degree, for the quality and integrity of systems on property.

  • Keeps fully abreast of trends and changing technologies as they relate to IT and Network Engineering and Information Security fields.

  • Ensures a superior level of user service and satisfaction is achieved and maintained throughout the properties.

  • Consults with process owners to find solutions to solve business problems.

  • Required to participate in on-call pager rotation.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

  • Use incident and change management software as the business requires.

Position Requirements




  • Must possess superior technical skills, and be proficient in a variety of network and enterprise application systems currently in use by the company.


  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school in Information Technology or equivalent combination of education and/or experience eight (8) years.
  • AND Minimum of Five (5) years of experience working directly with and supporting network operating systems, security, administration, and engineering, preferably in a casino environment.
  • Prior hands-on professional experience must include Storage Area Networks, Juniper Network hardware and software, and Network firewall applications.
  • Working knowledge of network Wi-Fi solutions, and VPN.
  • Working knowledge of network protocols including TCP/IP, SMTP, HTTP\HTTPS, DNS, DHCP and SNMP.


  • Certified in at least one (1) of the following, or an additional Two (2) years of experience supporting at least one (1) of the following information technology systems in use by the casino:
      • Juniper: JNCIA
      • Cisco: CCNA, CISSP, CCSE, CCSA
